Is it disrespectful to wear your own club owner tag in another club ?

Currently, I don't wear my club owner tag when I go to someone else's club. However, I must admit it's tempting to wear it.

Is it considered disrespectful (never mind the rules) to wear your own club owner tag in someone else's club ? Thanx.

Some might consider it advertising or trying to steal their buisness for your club. JMHO

The respectful way is not to wear it. Put it in your picks but don't wear it.

Turn that around and ask yourself if you would want other people wearing their club tags in your club.

I have to agree that it may appear like you are trying to advertise your club to the patrons of the place you are visiting.

Some owners will let it ride and others will ask you to change your tag. A few will ban you. I just think it is tacky and won't do it myself.

I think most would consider it bad form to advertise your own club while visiting another.

I'd go with tacky and disrespectful on this one as well. One thing to have it listed in your picks, where people have to voluntarily dig to find it. 'Nother altogether to have it floating above your head. I'd forgo the club owner tag in someone else's club.

ok, all this confirmed my own beliefs. TY.

follow up query: Is it disrespectful to wear another club's tag when dancing FOR A LONG TIME at a club that doesn't belong to the tag ? I think so. Join the club's group or just take the dang tag off. I can see having on a tag for a few minutes, but take it off if you can't bring yourself to join the club's group. As some of you have said, it's advertising another club.

Well..I do not know if it can be called disrespectful. Why hide the fact you are a club owner, especially if you are wearing it as your normal everyday group tag.

But as someone said, the Golden Rule should be applied.

it would not bother me.

Maybe, especially an owner tag. But a lot of people just don't think about the tag they're wearing, especially if they're new. I always try to put on a proper group tag, or a neutral one, or no tag, but I've caught myself in one club wearing another's tag. I do change it when I notice.

On the other hand, when people come in our club wearing other tags, I tend to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that either they haven't realized or they aren't doing it maliciously. After all, they belong to (or own) another club, but they've chosen to come to our event and support ours. That's a good thing!

Life's too short to take offense where none is intended.

Disrespectful? Maybe a little. Certainly shows very poor taste, however.

I worked for GOL otherwise known as Elements or sensual Elements for a long time..we were pretty lenient at times unless it got out of hand and we would have to slow down the use of it..
most times we didn't care but when you start seeing land marks from other clubs popping up and you see the tag on these people that match the lm..or your dancers are saying..listen this guy or girl is trying to scalp us from the club..
then we would get strict for a while on it..

we had a very big loyal fan base and they still do and you can bet customers will be a very important source to watch as to when it is time to slow down on certain things..

i never wore my tag into other peoples clubs but when i was head manager there..if they were there to have fun they could wear any tag they wanted..most ended up with vip tags anyway and wore them more times than not..but we were not gonna come down on anyone if they forgot..
i just think you have to know when to tighten up and when to loosen up and show it's about fun..

/me can add, I once saw someone suddenly realize, and then apologize when they noticed they had forgotten to change from their club's group tag at an event. Wouldn't that be the very definition of faux pas? ;)

everyone forgets at times..
i have a a few times myself i just made sure that i would respect other clubs but at the same time respect customers coming to ours as well.
i would have more problems with escorts walking in with tags than an owner..
heaven forbbid the other girls that dance there see an excort tag from another club..you want to talk about red flags going up in the channels and a manager trying to head off a cat fight hahahaha
i think we as managers spend more time playing drama buffers more than police in clubs lol
if you can head it off before it blooms nobody will even know it was there..

I won't wear a club tag unless I'm working there. My usual tag says "DJ Johnny", which gets me a lot of work, but it isn't disrespectful to any club. The only time I change the tag is if I think there's confusion over who the dj is.

A viewpoint ... not trolling ... I sometimes think that tags engender a tribal mentality, ie so and so belongs to this club or that club, whereas residents are probably members of several. I spend a lot of time on the Dublin 'circuit', there are several venues there which rotate events and the same crowd moves around, with a whole array of tags showing the different origins. I actually like this, as I then notice places I hadnt even thought of, and it helps as an ice breaker. I move around venues so fast sometimes, I can't keep changing my tag, so have considered just turning it off. I agree with comments on tags that are outright advertising, but most just show membership?

Just a view, with this being a forum.

I suppose a club could take it as a compliment if employees/owners from other clubs like to visit and are enjoying themselves.

I think it shows respect for another persons business by not wearing another clubs tag, I will wear no tag, even on my own land when I forget, I been talking to tennants sometimes for half an hour before they realise I am the Landlord :)
Then again I have tennants I have never seen due to time zone differences.

Sure people forget sometimes. It happens and most places just let it go. Its just bad form if you do it deliberately. Bit like sitting down in a restaurant and then unpacking and eating your own sandwiches. That kinda tends to annoy quite a number of chefs for some reason =)

I've never given this much thought! As a rule I don't display any tag unless I need to, just my name. However, since I keep my own name invisible on my screen, I sometimed forget ro remove my tag.

I frequently forget just to turn mine off - but if I DO realize it, I immediately turn it off.

However, if someone else comes into the club wearing a club manager tag, and it's apparent that they're looking around to see what makes the club tick...I don't hesitate to reciprocate the favor ;)

If the tag actually mentions another club's name, then it is tacky and rude in my opinion - especially if you are the owner or manager of said club.

A general club member I give more leniency to because many newbies have no clue how groups and tags really work. I have been asked lots how to remove a specific tag from showing and I have had many folks that did not realize that every time you joined a new group, it became the new 'active' one.

I wear my own personal group tag, just so that I can put silly stuff up there. And, it gives me a chance to mock other people's tags when I see they're taking themselves too seriously. (^_^)

I once met a guy that said his "Owner" tag means he owns land... I changed my tag to say "PWNER" and said "Well, this tag means I PWN you. (^_^)" and I offered him a copy of my collar... He rejected it and TPed out. (^_^)

But, with clubs... I have a hard time finding a nice way to tell them, "I'm here to spend time with friends and meet new ones. I don't exactly WANT to flood my group list to advertise for you." So I just tolerate the constant group offers and the "You won't be on the money orb until you join the group." stuff. (=_=)

I reeeeeealy had to put up with it at the club I went to last night. It was run by noobies that still think their club will be profitable... It wasn't exactly the lowest lag place on the grid, and there were only 8 people there at the time, so I don't plan on making a return trip any time soon. (=_=)

That said... I agree that I wouldn't wear another club's tag to a club, but, what about not wearing a club tag or any tag at all? Does that come across as rude? I'm just feeling silly after seeing all these "VIP" tags and people treating it as if it means anything at all. (=_=)y

This is an interesting question. I think the best answer for the OP is: would it annoy you if someone came in to your club wearing an owner tag from another club? I think you have your answer right there.

I do wear my "Madhu's Cafe barista" tag most of the time, when I am out shopping or whatnot, and I admit that I do this because it draws attention to the existence of my cafe and prompts people to ask about it and look at my profile and picks to find out more about it.

My cafe isn't a club; it doesn't bother me when people wear club tags there, and if I went to clubs, I'd probably not hesitate to wear my cafe tag at them. But I would not wear it at another coffee house, I think, or at any place that feels like it "competes" directly with mine.
