From: Neural Blankes ...(cash cow)... Don't think you have quite the grasp on that metaphor as you might think. See, when you have a "cash cow" you "milk it" for everything it's got for as long as you can. What you don't do is shoot it in the head, which is what LL seems to be attempting. I'm a newish resident around here and I can tell you that these issues are not making SL a very appealing place for me to spend my time and money in. Initially I had high hopes for my second life. Learn to build, texture, and script. Buy some land, start a store, and generally contribute to society and the economy. Then, I learned just how unreliable and unstable the SL environment is. I stopped trying to log in during weekends on my second week in-world exactly because of this kind of crap. If the same issues are migrating to weekdays as well, I'll not be sticking around at all and I'll be taking my money with me. I guarantee you I'm not the only one.

From: Tarina Sewell I seriously do not understand the series of issues lately with second life, didn't they upgrade their asset servers a while ago? wasn't that suposed to fix all these problems. Are they using acme servers or old compaq servers? Are their HD's WD? are they just not feeding hte hamsters??? frustration.. im rezzing a bottle of skyy in rl. I feel sorry for every business in SL from the campers to the mile high escorts. Noone is making any money on sl. Why are we going to bother to stay?? Apparently, the programmers for SL are allowed to work on projects that "excite" them. Bug fixes aren't very exciting. Still, at least you don't pay your tier in REAL dollars. Oh, wait...

From: Kitridge DeSantis [UPDATE 10:30 PM Pacific] Operations is continuing to assess the slowdown. They’re sufficiently engaged in the effort that getting more details from them at the moment would be a counterproductive distraction. We’ll ask them for more information when possible, and a follow up post when the slowdown is cleared. Translation: We got a particularly good supply of skunk in earlier, and our programmers are all really, really stoned. We're trying to feed them double espressos to get them to move again, but the local Starbucks has run out and we're waiting to source some extra-caffeinated coffee from elsewhere.

From: JeanGenie Jewell ohhh they realized something was worng...in blog right now...*happy dance your post was at 10:18 (my time) and if you notice in my previous post at 9:30 they already knew something was wrong they do not post in the main blog anymore, the main blog is not for server status posts, that is on the server status post page (which by chance they did post about on the main blog) guess they realized that not everyone checks the status page yet anywho just wanted to point that out, they knew at 9:30 when I got on live help, they had just became aware of the issue and posted on the status page, both of which I quoted in the first 2 posts of this thread. If you had read that, you would have known they already were aware of the issue.... (I think I just confused myself) heh

Kinda sucks that the there are never comments enabled on the status announcements since they started posting them to that seperate page but with all the people bitching off topic about their little issues on the blog posts it's a miracle that they allow comments on the main blog. I really wish they'd allow us to comment but if they can't/won't police it (and despite Katt's efforts and statements to the otherwise they can't/wont) then comments are useless anyway because 90% of it is off topic and/or pointless to 10% legitimate complains/concerns/criticisms/comments/suggestions.

I do not see any reason to have comments turned on with announcements posts on blogs anywhere
it is not like it is an interactive type blog, I see the SL blog as mainly a place they use to announce stuff, sort of like a news blog more than a chatty blog
all ppl do with comments is bitch and moan I do not even bother reading comments anymore
I tried commenting a couple times, gave up as any legit comments get lost and buried in the massive amounts of complaints
