Do people gender switch a lot when they create a new personality for SL? I considered it when i first registered. Thought it might be neat to play a guy. But I couldn't bring myself to do it. I've spent around a week now in SL, and i've found out during this time - that even in world - I am all woman!

I've probably spent close to $5,000 Lindons now, on clothing and accessories! I can't seem to stop either. Good Lord, help me!

And my folder tree is a complete nightmare, and this after only a week? I don't even want to think of what it will be like after a month. I really need to spend some time cleaning up my folders and organizing, but I cannot seem to get myself away from the shops and stores - whats a girl to do?

Just rambling - pointless stuff really...

5000L is a drop in the bucket, just you wait.

Research shows that generbending is more common within males than females in MMRPGs

It's interesting how tastes vary. I tried on a RAC skin once and, while the face was pretty enough, I absolutely hated the body shading...I basically couldn't throw one of my Celestial Studios skins back on fast enough.

As to hair: I'm an ETD junkie and, fortunately enough, not only are her usual freebies and cheapies out, Elika's having a HUGE sale right now...like 50-75L for four to six packs of related colors, or 300L for ALL the colors in a style.

Here is a great article on organizing inventory: http://www.styledisorder.com/blog/2007/01/inventory_a_mes.html Her system is probably more than you need at the moment, but it might give you some ideas. ;)

Oh, and all three of my avatars are female...I've felt absolutely no urge to try being male at any point. I do have one friend who's male playing female, but he's very upfront about it...I think he's in it for the shopping. lol

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I like shoes, chocolate and the 3 Stooges. I'm confused?

sl is a fantasy world, altho some people will not admit it, it is, every thing you want to do in rl but you cant you do it in sl, there for it is a fantasy, if you have fantasy about being the other gender, i think you have issues. the sad part is you can not trust no one on there real sex, thank god for the new voice system

Might I ask if your avatar looks exactly like you do RL? Same height, same body proportions, same skin tone, hair colour, eye colour, clothing style?

Can you also fly RL?

I have to agree with Jillian on this (though I think her sarcasm might have been missed if not for that smily at the end).

Reminds me of when I was in the URU Beta, they asked us all to try the avatar of the opposite sex, to make sure game play was consistent. Was rather an eye opener the change in how other players treated me; my friends treated me the same but random people I met treated me as if I were the sex of my av.

I've always taken avatars at face value. I treat male avatars as male, female ones as female, robots as robots and furries as, well...humans dressed up!!!! Nobody knows who's behind them, even if they tell you their av is an exact replica of their RL selves.

Regardless of whether an av resembles their RL, there is another question - whether the RL sees the av as an extension of their RL persona or a virtual friend or perhaps in some cases just a something they need in order to build or deal in land.

I look exactly like my avatar. My clothes are not so nice in RL though.

Not really a comment on the main topic, but on the inventory management...

You think a few months is bad? Wait till you hit the few year mark....

My inventory is a screaming mess, no matter what I do. Each time I open it, I find yet another thing I forgot about from years ago ....
SL groans when I open my inventory, and I swear I hear screams when I go to perform a search....

I swear LL is deleting things from my inventory out of pity....

Since this has turned into a thread about inventory tips, I'll say that I made a folder called "rarely used items" -- kind of self-explanatory what it is. It gives me a place to put those things that I almost ever have a need for, but don't quite want to delete, just in case.

I just have to browse through it periodically to remind myself what's in it.

That's my "crap" folder :D

Seriously, tho, to answer the question: Yes I have a male alt, and it's really strange to walk around as him. Like some of the others have said, I'm not sure what to do with him. Maybe I'll start sending him to some RP sims to get used to him. Hmm... or maybe I could send him to Gor and get him a female slave... what a mind twist!

Sometimes I wonder that myself....

It is odd the grid goes down the moment I go to dig something out.....
