What do people think, I sort of like the idea but it will have to grow on me lol

Have you seen the new dashboard accessed via a banner ad on the My Account page?
Its got all the things like friends list, account details, grid status, xstreet feed, events feed and groups as well as other things What do people think, I sort of like the idea but it will have to grow on me lol _____________________

Two thirds of it is worthless screen trash.
The left column was useful, as was the widget for blog feeds and the one for grid status. Underwhelmed about most of it. Especially as there was no way to customize it to turn of the parts I found uterly useless, like the "Recent Activity" area that listed what some Linden had done to tweak the dashboard, or the "shopping" widget that showed 6 random micro images, too small to be even intriguing. Or the "map" widget, that showed a random SLURL Location (throw a dart at the map and TP, anyone?). Also found the "Events" listing utterly useless, since the Events listings are usually nothing but ad spam, and rarely ever a real "Event" worth going to. _____________________

One good thing about it is the Linden Exchange section there. The 'buy L$' button opens up what looks like an immediate LindeX buy, rather than the old 'increase your credit' thing that saw so many people posting here to ask why they couldn't buy L$ with the money they'd just put on their account.

I tried it out, and as a bare-bones starting point I like it. It needs more options for customization, and some new features (dare I dream of being able to IM my online friends), but overall I think it is a step in the right direction.

Well, for one, there aren't as many redundant links as there are for the old one. That's a major plus. I also like the fact that it has XStreet stuff for managing accounts and shopping there. I gotta say, if they allow us to turn on and off widgets, I like the dashboard a lot better. Though... I'm not crazy about the black background. Yeah, I realize they gotta try matching that atrocity that is the unlogged in home page, but BLACK? Is that color supposed to be "edgy" or something? _____________________

So...the 3-D world is lagged, borked, segragated and broke...but a 2-D second life update will be available, even if you can't stay in SL more than 6 seconds. Sounds like a great idea !

I think it will possibly improve before they release it on us and it will be better I am sure once you can pick and chose what you display but I found it sooooo slow in loading etc. but hopefully that will change I to think the colour is bad now maybe they could let us change the colours in our profiles as I am sure the software will allow it as its leaning towards a facebook/i google look now. LOL LL are synonymous with crashing and laggy SW and an airbag no chance thats just to sensible for LL _____________________

*chuckles* Given that it's "in beta," that means LL will either force it down our throats next week or it will be in beta for a couple of years... long enough for all of us to forget about it.
It was a little bit slower the first time I loaded. A bit faster the second, but still slower than the old page. Given how many things it has to fetch, it doesn't surprise me. You have forum, blog, events, grid status, Xstreet, tutorial (nice touch there) and groups to fetch updates on. I wonder how the dashboard will hold up to several of it's feeds being down at once? Or does LL expect that to go down too? _____________________
