Thanks for all the answers. It's because i'm writing a paper about people who can ditch there RL job and life with there SL job. So anyone who can do this will you please take your time and answer to these questions (you can copy/paste).

You can just answer a few if you don't want to answer all of them.

1) Why do you earn your money in a virtuel world and not in the RL? (is it the easy way?)

2) Do you life a good life where you can buy unnessassary/expensive stuff. or do you just earn enough to get food on the table and a roof over the head?

3) How long time have you played SL

4) How long time do you plan to play SL?

5) do you have a social life in the RL?

6) How many hours do you use a day on SL

7) How do you earn your money (ex. selling t-shirts)

8) How old are you?

9) are you a male or female

10) Do you think its fun to play SL or just the way to get money?

11) are there any thing you liked to add?

Thank you for your time and i hope you will answer these questions :)

ps. sorry if my english ist't that good :S i'm from Denmark.
So you went from a simple question to a survey??????

I think you are going to be disappointed with the reaction you receive to this change.

The problem is, there are extremely few people in SL who meet your criteria. It's like writing about the people who make a million dollars or more a year writing greeting card text; or the people who make a full-time living writing catchy sayings to go inside fortune cookies. There may be a few who do, but finding them, or getting their attention, is like seeking one grey grain of sand on a beach full of white sand.

Most of the people who spend time in the forums would not be in the group you want to talk to. Those people adtually making a full-time living in SL will be in-world, working, rather than wasting theri time on the forums. Those who read and reply to these forums are a fairly small percentage fo the players in Second Life.

According to my husband - yes, I live in SL. However, I seem to have gotten the SL/RL money thing backwards - rather than taking L$ out of SL into RL, I dump US$ into SL.

I would be surprised if there was more than a dozen people in the whole of SL that are able to make a RL living. I would also be surprised if any of them were content-creators, as opposed to land barons.

You need to talk to Anshe Chung. Good luck ;)

I hear that June Dion (Bare Rose) makes a RL living out of SL.

Her creations are amazing and as far as I know, none sell for over 200 L$.

Good marketing as well as incredible products; there is a lesson there I think.

You forgot to take into account the Xcite factor, and Sexgen and the top designers and, and, and etc. Actually there are more then a handful that make a RL living from SL. It is only a handful that make a NICE living off of SL.

http://secondlife.com/whatis/economy_stats.php

December 567 people made: $1,000 to $2,000 USD
December 386 people made: $2,000 to $5,000 USD
December 205 people made: > $5,000 USD

That is a LOT more than a dozen. :D
