Oh hell horrific memory time. I bought a parrot AV cos... well, I like parrots. They're squawky and annoying, just like me. A friend suggested I make a back up folder with my usual shape, skin, hair etc in it so I could put it on and turn back into my usual human form right away.
So I did just that.
Then, after showing off my new parrot to a few friends I decided to go human again. Pulled on my back up folder and TADAAAA.
My friend had neglected to tell me that I had to put clothes in it too.

From: Annabelle Babii Better yet, put them together in a folder. And make a back up copy in case you accidently screw one up.

From: DJ Earnshaw Maybe I am foolish for trying Free Stuff but I went to the Freebie Store at Orellian (228, 31, 24) and took the Male Avartars Box 15, took it to a sandbox and droped the batman avatar from it and opened it and took it into inventory. I tried on several of the items then tried to take them off. I can take off things like the shirt, but Batman Shape, Batman Skin, and Batman eyes are all shown as worn, and when I right click that item in inventory I dont have Take Off as an option. I have Properties, Rename, Copy Asset UUID, Copy, Wear, and Edit, and regardless of how many times I click wear it still says worn, but I never get Take Off.
How do I get this mask off? It's not foolish to try free stuff. Everyone tries free stuff. At some point you try stuff you have to pay for, but in the meantime, experiment with all the free stuff you want. It helps you define the look you want before you have to plonk down lindens for the better stuff. The thing to remember is inventory control and organization. I had about a zillion pairs of free pants before I went through and cleared them out. I kept the ones I wore and one pair that was so horrifically ugly that I couldn't throw it away. I saw a guy pop into the Hanson Infohub the other day wearing a huge bucket of KFC on his head. As hilarious as it was, I noted in his profile that he was really new. I IM'ed him and asked if he needed help getting the fried chicken off his head, but got no response. Maybe a chickenbot? Some sort of advertising ploy? It did make me a little hungry.

Free stuff is great. Even better is having a hot female avatar and using it to get gullible n00b guys to give you free stuff.

Dang. Seriously. I want fried chicken for lunch now. Extra Crispy or Spicy? Creamy or traditional coleslaw? Mashed potatoes or fries? Dark or white meat? I want details...

Can someone make one of those stupid Jira things? Obviously the tutorial doesn't cover enough basic "life in SL" stuff.

From my understanding, DJ came in through the CSI introduction thingy, which apparently is not as extensive as the official one. Having said that, there does seem to be a gap between what new residents learn and what might be handy to know, so to speak

Wasn't Nika going to work on a Cartel Welcome Area concept? I would think that LL would balk at totally redoing OI so soon after this one.
I ran my alt through it when I created her and it was very confusing, I kept ungetting different keys because I kept walking over the same sensor, and I thought that the lessons could have been repeated a few times, to get people to get the hang of it.
What would we say in the JIRA? I mean, I could think of a lot of ways to improve it, but without LL's permission, any suggestions that we make will just fly off into the ether.

How about: *The tutorial should teach people how to dress and attach/detach prims. *The tutorial should teach people how to use IMs *The Tutorial should teach people how to walk without bumping into you. *The tutorial should mention to men not to walk around with their primnis hanging out.

Having said that, there does seem to be a gap between what new residents learn and what might be handy to know, so to speak It is true I came on through the CSI introduction and it was not very thorough, although I created a new avatar and took it through OI, and if you just do the four required tutorials, it is not that much better I can understand newbies wanting to get out there in the real world, but I wish the optional tutorials from the old OI were available on Help Island Public. I have seen the ones on OI Public, and they are better than nothing, bit not as complete as all of the ones on OI
