Should I run today's release candidate?

1.18.3.5 was more stable; fewer (to zero) camera swing freezes. Last night I had to swing my camera fairly carefully with the new 1.18.4 RC. I love Nicholaz' viewer, I really do, but I'm addicted to the Communicate window, so will go back to LL's 1.18.3.5.

Sighs.
Yeah it really does weird things while you're trying to texture prims.
Shame. The rest of it was working pretty well for me, um apart from still getting the "Gesture is missing from database" errors still not being fixed, and probably some other things listed as "fixed" that might not be but I haven't found yet!
Ah well back to 1.18.3.5 till they sort out the texture bug. And like others here, I'd love to know what on earth they changed that borked texture rotations!

Maybe some of us don't feel like paying Linden Lab to be their beta tester.

Until now, I've felt like Sling, I never d/l anything until it's mandatory, and I would not ordinarily want to be paying to be a tester, either. I have not d/l'd this Release Candidate -- but it now seems to me that it would be better to have as many testers of this candidate as possible, while we can always go back to the official release, rather than have them release it on us without all that testing.

In short, I don't trust THEIR testing, and don't want an UNtested release, so perhaps more of us had better bite the bullet...

I've always had a pretty stable SL but for the random crash thing in the last 3 months, it's still happening in this viewer but seems to be a lot less often.
If you have an unstable SL then RC's may or may not be worse but seeing the RC install seperately and I can run either version or both at once if I wish, then you got nothing to lose.

They didn't hold their mouth exactly right as they were coding.. or failed to sacrifice enough phone weasels to the grid monkey gods... (In other words, I'm not sure they know either!)

I'm just bemused that this passed them by in the in house... it seems rather a show-stopper for us builders!

It's a release candidate. That means that it's nearly ready for release, but might still contain bugs. If you want to help make sure it's ready for general release, try it - and report any bugs or regressions you find. Do not expect it to be bug free, that's not what it's supposed to be.

On the other hand, if you want a stable release, go with - well, with the most recent stable release. In this case, 1.18.3.something.

Not nearly as difficult as some people seem to make it.

Hey Pal, just because your name implies the absolute pinnacle, don't put us under that kind of pressure, OK?
