Oh yes I understand why it might be a bit safer.

But some said they trusted the alt with money because they will spend it all otherwise.

If it were me I'd log in as the alt and spend it all anyway.

I think that is idea for some people..It is not just a click away..

Do i want to log into my alt to tip someone or do i really need this outfit??Do i want to tap into my savings for this thing?
It just has them putting a bit more thought into the purchase is all..

I have a couple alts, one is in charge of the account for our little club we have on our land, She also plays Tiny Empires with me. The other is male I use for building when I need to fit objects for a male shape. He is also good to argue with when my partner isn't around hahahahaha.

actually it doesn't have to be too hard to use a banking alt

I have a nifty little object that no one would suspect, that has debit permissions to my bank alt, and can only be accessed by my main alt, complete with password protection.

my main need only access the object and get a transfer

similarly an object could be set up to only give out so much cash on a scheduled basis, to their main to limit how much the spend (and the inconvenience of having to log on the alt however small keeps them from overspending)

as for WHY to have it... argent's reasoning is good, plus there is the risk of being targeted for a hack attempt, if anyone remembers the quicktime bug. there are also reasons of simpler accounting (no need to filter out random purchases by your main)

Ailen is my alt account. I joined SL a week before I created the alt, and this account has become more of a main account for me. My main account is more like a virtual me, complete with my shy, introverted nature. Ailen is almost completely opposite of me, including gender. Makes it easier for me to talk to people and get around. Not sure why it works that way, but it does.

My alt took on a life of her own

Created an alt originally to help admin a RP sim and wanted similar name so people knew who she was but further empowered to handle estate management tasks. Well, eventually my alt was needed in RP and so took on her own life. It has gotten completely out of hand, of course. At one point, I seriously considered auctioning her off on eBay but then she and another avatar fell in love, partnered and I am happily resigned to handling two avatars that are amazing in their differences as well as their likenesses.

Alt One was my first SL ID. I never used her in here as my graphics couldn't handle SL when I joined up in 2006. I remembered her login about a year ago and she is now a pen name ID when I write for some SL magazines.

Alt Two was my next SL ID. After a bad break up I retired her and now she is just used when I want to take pics or to pilfer from her inventory.

Jordan was my piggy bank ID which I used to hold tier payments. After the bad break up, I moved to her permanently.

Alt Three is my male ID. He is used for doing pictures with and he writes for a blog. He is also "married" to Alt Two. I was very bored one day lol.

Alt Four is gathering dust somewhere. I don't even log her in anymore.

So what do you do with your alts?
