A break is probably a good thing Mary - it does us all good now and then to get away from virtual life. Your inventory etc should be fine, just don't expect your landmarks to still work when you get back @Pep - QFT re that or we'd have no peoples at all! BTW I know someone I used to work with who logged in once, went to the Ahern welcome area and said on the spot he wasn't prepared to deal with such morons. User name still in existance three years later.

From: Pserendipity Daniels The female mind heals fast and forgets pain pretty quickly Pep (Otherwise women would never have more than one child!) I have said this many times. Giving birth was probably one of the most intense pains I have ever felt, but thankfully the true intensity of it does fade pretty quickly. Now the pain of actually dealing with said child when they become a teenager is a totally different issue.

SL is a "game" but, it is a game in which there are human beings behind each Avatar. We sometimes get so caught up in this game that we forget about the human being on the other end. We have sorrow and heartache here at SL, just as we do in RL. When we have sorrow and heartache in RL we do not run away from it, we deal with it and become stronger.
I am staying at SL because I love the people I have met here. Strangers who do not know you express their empathy for the pain you are feeling, how can I leave a place that has so many good people here.
I will be sad for a while but, I will grow stronger and wiser from my situation. I will meet new people and have a great time here.
I thank each of you for your support as it is all who posted here who have convenced me to stay. I will not stick my head in the sand like a Ostrich.

From the Knowledge Base: Second Life Info > Your Account > Billing Issues > How long can my Second Life account remain inactive before it's deleted? As long as you're in good standing with Linden Lab -- not delinquent with billing or otherwise in violation of the Community Standards and Terms of Service -- your Second Life account can remain inactive indefinitely. This means that your avatar and inventory will continue to be stored on our servers. Generally, Basic accounts can be left alone if you're not going to log in for a long time, while Premium accounts need to be paid for accordingly, including tier fees for land holdings, or risk being put on hold and deleted. How do I downgrade to a Basic account? If you wish to downgrade your Premium or Concierge account to Basic, follow these steps: Point your web browser to https://secondlife.com/account/membership.phpSelect the Basic Account option. Click the Save Changes button. Warning: If you downgrade to a Basic account, you will lose all the land you own, and you will no longer have access to your weekly Linden dollar stipend or Live Chat support. Make sure to sell all your land before you downgrade! You may also wish to check your Group Land contributions and make arrangements to keep your group's land holdings in good standing.

From: Mary Amaterasu SL is a "game" I find that by calling it a game it allows for other people to do what you are saying, which is forget that there are real people at the keyboard with real emotions who have real reactions to things that happen in-world.

Oh no! We can't allow people to call SL what they want. Next they'll want to use SL the way they want. People act like asshats ...because they are asshats. Stop being so defensive over what someone else calls this "thing".

I'll keep on saying it: SL is a game because it is part of RL which is also a game.
Pep (Some people are better games players than others though)

If you do leave and think you might want to come back, don't leave it too long. In spite of what their website says, getting back can be a real pain with disabled accounts and all sorts of things which you can only sort out by making stupidly expensive phone calls (for those of us not in America). Dunno what it is about the word 'internet' that they have problems with that makes them force us to make phone calls for everything. I was hoping to bring my old avatar back to life but I can't be bothered with all the messing around they want me to do.
