I am going through some bad times right now and am thinking of stepping away from SL for a little while. I have a few questions:

1) I am on a "free" account and want to know if my account will be deleted if I leave.

2) Will I loose my Avatar and all of her inventory?

Thanks :)

Hi Mary, sorry to hear that. I believe if you are a free account, that everything stays just as it is, someone will correct me if that's wrong. Good luck to you and hope to see you back soon. Take care :)

No. You will lose nothing if you simply walk away. OK, so SL can lose stuff from time to time but other than the same risk everyone else has, you won't lose anything.

You have to try real hard to get rid of an avatar and their inventory. Even if you were to cancel your account, you have I think six months to re-instate your account with a guarentee that your inventory will still be there.

If you do try to delete your account, the web page will tell you therre is no reason you should since there is nothing being charged against it and that it will remain intact waiting for your return indeffenantly.

Take care, Mary. Be safe. Stop by from time to time if you feel like chatting. SL and your avatar will be here when you decide to come back.

Off topic but ...
Second Life moves fast.
I was told that when I started. Things move fast so watch your heart. But it never makes any sense until you can see it in hind sight. I could be wrong in my assumptions, but either way, feel free to PM me if you ever need to talk.

By all means, take care of yourself. It should all still be here if and when you decide to come back, whether tomorrow or next year, but you are more important than SL.

Be well Mary. Remember: it is not what happens to you, but how you react to it.

Those are very wise words. Good luck.

Taking a break is sometimes a good idea. Your stuff isn't going anywhere. Just don't forget your password. :p

QFT! Take good care of yourself and return when and if you want refreshed :)

ETA: Just realized my last sentence didn't sound like I meant it. I meant when/if you return...you will be refreshed *NOT* "come back to SL when you want to be refreshed."

Take care hon. Come back to SL if it/we can help you, stay away if it is hurting you.

An extended foray into RL can make one forget weirdo SL avatar names and what your favorite store is for skins. Consider jotting down the names of people and places who are special to you now, so that you can quickly plug back in when you return. One neat place to do that is in the profile Notes page for your own avatar.

Be well!

Thanks everyone as you have been most helpful to me. I may be back after I take a little time to get my head straight. These "games" in here are just too much to handle right now.

You have not heard the last of me :)

You may find yourself back sooner than you think. When I quit back in April, cancelled my account and abandoned my space, I didn't think I would be back for a while. I was back in 3 weeks, with a totally different outlook and priorities.

Account canceling is bad. I canceled my account in July 04 and in 24hrs i was on the phone getting Robin Linden to reinstate it since Lifetime accounts cannot be reactivated normally.

DO NOT CANCEL!

Plus it costs 10 bucks to reinstate it.

Remember - Do not let those games determine your SL - its your SL and we have plenty of tools to keep others out of it.

It's more like 30 days to keep your inventory, between 30 and 60 days, you keep your name but lose your inventory, and after 60 days you are SOL, and have to start all over.

No. Only if you actually 'Cancel" your account.

My account is a "free" account and I am not cancelling...just leaving for a while. I know I will be back...just will take a little while.
