I've gone through bunches but keep gravitating back to one from Snowflake Chaika that's far from realistic but exceedingly cute.
There is an old RaC one (Julie) that I bought because it resembles my RL skin to an almost creepy degree, but it started popping up everywhere after someone ripped and resold it, so the magic evaporated.

From: Darion Rasmuson ::eXceSs:: androgyne skins by Toshiya Okawa [][]Trap[][] skins by Selos Dae for special make up I love ::eXceSs:! I knew you were too cute! But honestly, I have skins from many different makers and prices, well known and not, depending on w/e circles. A friend of mine, what ever looks great on her, looks awful on my shape, and vice versa. lol To the OP, DEMO anything that catches your eye!

I have folders full of skins. Currently wearing a freebie from Popfuzz Bamboo (hand painted). Like an Eloh skin with a bit more detail. I might buy some more of her work.

My only non-furry is my child avatar, and she's an inu child (wolf ears, tail and eyes), so I only have advice on kids skins. I tend to switch between my two favorite skin designers, Lumiere Kids Skins & Rha! kids. Both do a wonderful job of capturing the look without getting too cutesy. The skinned knee add on for Lumiere Kids is a nice add on for boys and tomboys And for shapes, Rene Erlanger does great kids & teens shapes. I also find the kid skins by Robin Sojourner to be very nice, they don't fit the look I was going for on my avatar but I have the shop landmarked for future shopping

I have had Tuli Asturias as a fav since january. I was very faithful to her, until Splendor skins. I use the dark ones for my ethnic look. And I've tried on lots of demos. Hard to find some I like. I pick up "costume skins" that I can use for halloween or special occasions, but I have always retured to Tuli as "basic" Marianne. The downside was that I bought a full pack of "Emily" but now I prefer the new skins... so some of those were NEVER used.
But yesterday...a friend Tp'ed me to Alady Island and I went "Ho hum... another pack of skins I won't use...well I can always take them, they are free". Well I put on one skin and I really, really like them.
I am not so faithful to one look. I know some that never change their shape or skin designer for months. I have lots of shapes, based upon what "look" I want to have. Skirt shape, corset shape, ballet shape, lingerie shape (curvy in a more natural way then corset shape), child shape, grandma shape, fat shape, shorter and taller.... Same with skins. I pick skin that fit the shape, the clothes, the mood.
It's strange that there's so many skins I've never heard about and this thread isn't long. I also loved Dutch Touch skins before, the new ones not so much. And the Halloween skin from Damiani is awesome...
And PXL.... I know they had a drama going on but it looks as the drama is solved now so we can buy them again. Let me sum up my preferred skins at the moment:
- Tuli - Alady - Splendor - PXL

Are there any really good skins for, say, under $300 per? I recently ran across some good ones here and there for around that but I wouldn't say they knocked me over...nothing wrong with them, though. I do like photorealistic faces if they are done well. The mouth looks so much better with real shades of lipstick, than crayon paintings some bad skins look like. And having tried to make a skin (not trying again til CS4) I know how hard it is. Unless your face shape has the mouth perfect, those lined lipsticks are gonna make a real hard and wonky looking edge - the photorealistic lipstick is much softer. In my price range anyway. (Oh, and some of those freebie skins really aren't bad. Carmelle, anyone? LOL)

I switch between an old Rac skin and a Redgrave. I love the Redgrave but the particular skin I wear does not have freckles and the Rac does.
I've also noticed that the Redgrave only looks orange on certain Nvidea drivers.

Both my alt and I swear by SLink skins (/me waves to Draupadi). Searched for months, and never found any better. Great mouths, great coloring, both in very pale and dark skins. Love the work Sid Monro does there! Plus, she's gone out of her way to do custom adjustments on the skins for me, so they work right with my shape. That's a great service. Draupadi, bless her heart, actually refuses to wear anything but SLink head to toe. She's so high maintenance.

Could people who reply name a price range for the skins/skin shops they are listing? It isn't necessary of course but would be very helpful to those of us still looking for their "perfect" skin.

Chai ~ Was L$1200 but recently the price was dropped to L$450 per skin Fleur ~ L$500 - L$1200 I believe I'm really liking the new Gala skins too, but I've only tried out the demos so far. I think they were around L$1000 per skin. ETA: Aebleskiver, your name is making me hungry.

She also has a nice freebie pack for under 30 day people.

Aebleskivers http://entertainingformonkeys.blogspot.com/2007/11/aebleskivers.htmlApple slices is the literal translation, but I think it has to do with applesauce in the middle of the aebleskiver.
