From: Jig Chippewa Are you a lover of classical? Rock? Country? talk and news - well which is teh best? Progressive rock, Celtic (traditional and contemporary), European dynamic, bluegrass (as opposed to country/western - bleech!), classical (more Baroque than Romantic, certain modern composers notwithstanding), jazz in all forms, fusion of most any kind, and I have a thing for mashup. Faves: Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Living Sin King Crimson - Starless and Bible Black Eric Bogle - Somebody's Moggie Billy Cobham - Spectrum Chick Corea - My Spanish Heart (the whole album) Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze et. al. Jethro Tull - Warchild (album) Razormaid, Chemical Brothers, Moby et. al. edit: how neglectful - Isao Tomita, Wendy Carlos, Rick Wakeman et. al. ... I could do this all day.

"And Moby? You can get stomped by Obie You thirty-six year old baldheaded f*g, blow me You don't know me, you're too old, let go It's over, nobody listen to techno " Had to do it. [It's a rhyme from Eminem's "Without Me."]

From: Brenda Connolly I forgot to add for me, Zappa. lots of Zappa. Ooh, I never even mention Zappa anymore because so few people know anything past the few popular funny tunes that got radio airplay, if that. I've been a Frank fan since 1974.

A little before me, but I've been a FZ follower for a long time, and pretty much have his entire collection. I really wish he were alive today, I still read his book every so often. I briefly dated a guy who played in his band for a bit, and the stories he would tell me. He was actually looking to arrange a meeting for me when FZ passed on.

From: Ghosty Kips WHAT? Who was it? He wasn't a "name" so to speak, did a tour or two as a keyboardist. Didn't record anything that was released. I just learned recently that he passed away as well.

Okay - Tull, Zappa Wendy Carlos, Wakeman.
You ALL rock! I've been a huge Tull, Yes, ELP, Gentle Giant, King Crimson fan since the mid 70's, a Zappa fan a bit later, and every other kind of prog and fusion you can name too. Progressive rock is finally having a bit of resurgence thanks to the internet and especially You Tube. I don't ever want it to get popular though. It's like, science fiction used to be something you would hide liking until you were sure there was a fellow geek around. Now it's so mainstream you can't stick your nose out your door without running into another fan. It was more fun before for me. I want all our esoteric music to stay that way - esoteric.

Soemtimes younger people (on music forums) look up to us as some kind of aging rock warrior mentors. It's weird.

No different than hearing any new music today although it does make me feel a bit old lol. Even when I heard Radiohead for the first time, I had the same feeling I had hearing King Crimson or Pink Floyd - it was the same kind of musical revelation to me and that isn't going as far back. Music kind of mind prints time periods for me so those particular bands do hold special meaning of my younger days, and hearing certain songs will bring me immediately back to specific moments, places, people, etc. But, again, I think this is the same for all music, no matter the genre or age. It's kind of cool to have been there when it all first happened, but probably no different than to have been a hanger on during Mozarts time either, you know?

i do like to listen to music inside my jukebox at times though it actually has room to dance up top by the records and down inside the middle of it and on the record that spins in the front..it's like 50+ meters wide and right around 100 high i think. the acoustics are awsome!! lol

I ALWAYS keep Sky 80's.fm on. When my hubby logs in he changes it to The Eagle 181.fm or BeatlesRadio or the 24/7 Pink Floyd Station. I Love 80's music so much that sky plays every song that I love. Sometimes I won't tp out of my house if there is a good song on LOL

From: Elora Lunasea The station I have on most is Martini in the Morning.
One of my pet hates about SL is the number of places that have Martini in the Morning as their stream. I loathe that station with a passion, but it's obviously very popular, and often on at places that I would like if it wasn't for the stream. From: Jig Chippewa Imagine. YOU heard all these people when tehy were NEW. To me they are classics. What does it feel liek to know they ar enow classics and you heard them when they were first out? The frightening thing is when someone says they've been into a band since they were a kid, and on further discussion you find that they weren't born the first time you saw them. Other odd thing is when you agree with someone that a 20 year old track is a classic and then remember how much you disliked it when it came out, or when you say about a band "I don't like the new stuff" and realise the "new stuff" is older than the person you're talking to. And in answer to the original question classic/progressive rock or folk.
