I fully understand how troublesome griefers can be as a one-time administrator of a FPS server, but really? Common Suffering? Comparing flights of cocks to a Hurricane-Katrina level disaster? Is it really that serious business? No but it was friggin' annoying dealing with horrified noobs in cages, people being scared cos there was a fire in the room (no, really). Mainly it was just the disruption to any public place if you happened to care about your fellow user's experience. Which I was DUMB enough to care about once. Now I just laugh at the willies and/or turn off particles. Sorry. I've had my caring about other people's experience exorcised, other than if I am trying to provide something nice for them directly. It's someone else's turn now.

Is it really that serious business? All she said was "hardship". She didn't say it was another 911 or the earthquake in China. When people have a common annoyance or hardship, even if the hardship is trivial in comaprison to major catastrophes, it brings them together. That's all. As for the PN, let them think they have won. If it makes them happy and they go away, or if it helps them justify going away, then that's fine by me. They were a pretty ugly lot, with the racism and hatred they espoused. The grid is better off without them.

Its a bit egotistical but hey sometimes it works in people's favours. I haven't seen them lag out sims often. I think once I was on a sim they hit or had tried to hit but I know those that were inconvinienced by them probably wont mind that they have moved elsewhere and I sure dont mind. They weren't actualy using the grid anyhow just trying to crash sims so if its one less sim crasher around to hog resources I'm all for it and heck I will even congratulate them on their "win"

About the best they can do is run around and drop a few thousand prims until they get caught doing it, which is usually less than half an hour. After that, their griefer account gets deleted, and all their stuff vanishes. Though they can just repeat it again five minutes later, after about thirty or forty tries it starts to lose its charm. Most of the PN are kids, with correspondingly short attention spans and no particular ability to do anything beyond verbal trolling and acting out their abandonment issues. Unfortunately they do have one or two guys with some programming skill, and one of them is the guy who makes the ShoopedLife anonymizing client. I've been told that the Lindens can tell when this client is in use, but so far they haven't implemented anything that blocks it from being able to connect to the grid. If they were able to do that, 80% of the griefing in SL would probably vanish overnight, and Linden Lab would be able to move half its Governance Team resources off onto other, more productive, tasks. |
