Any Real Estate Agents for Mainland?

Hey all,

Can someone direct me to a real estate agent that helps with mainland purchases? I am about ready to take the plunge finally and being somewhat lazy as well as not having a clue (I've always rented estate parcels) I really need some experienced guidance.

I know quite a few of our trusted forum folk rent/sell land, but does that include mainland as well?

Thanks for helping-ness :)

I don't know much about mainland, but I'd recommend Raymond Figtree for advice on buying mainland. Or perhaps Skye and Elanthius - I believe they've bought plenty in their time!

As far as mainland rentals, Prokofy is one of the largest and best known, but it's fairly 'self service'. The advantage with Prok's is that there are refunds possible, so you can sort of pick and choose and change your mind. Which may be better than any amount of advice, once you are locked in.

Failing that, who else does mainland - Avion and a few others I think?

I only rent mainland, and rarely sell or trade..

I would be happy to act as a Free consultant,

and make sure you get a nice place at a fair price..

IM , i do check off lines

I figure you want to buy not rent, and I would be happy to act as a non biased third party.

I rent mainland, the trouble with mainland is ...well you never know who your neighbours will be. However it depends upon what you want to do with your parcel really. That's what you need to ask yourself first.

If you want a peaceful residential experience you'll end up paying more and then there are no guarantees. If you want a skybox, pretty much anywhere will do but you might want to check out popular places to see if you're likely to find the sim is full.

Sarah Nerd.

She is phenomanal. I have rented from her a few times and if I needed to buy land I would blaze a trail straight to her to buy from.

Are there real estate agents for the mainland? Oh my, yes.

There are so many you can hardly move without tripping up on one. At Abbotts we had to get a special plow to clear the runways since they started to hang out there, occasionally getting sucked into jet engines and causing all manner of inconvenience. They were almost as bad as the Ninja.

@ Ciaran,

Well what I wanted the land for was my residence. I have always rented and had a peaceful existence as you put it, but lately I was thinking that I could put that rental money into a parcel that can't be pulled out from under me and in addition use my little 512 piece that's just sitting there. = )

But, then again...you're right about the not knowing who will move in next door. *sighs*

I dunno, I'm still weighing the whole thing. I'd be interested in hearing others opinions about the pros and cons. I've rented for 2 years on estate rentals with no problems whatsoever. Maybe I should just keep still.

Agreed Des I had already planned on trying to pin down Ray for advice. I will check out Prokofy as well. Thanks.

My list:

1) Timo Daehlie / TD Realty
2) Sarah Nerd
3) Elanthius Flagstaff / Skye Whitcroft / Ninjaland

..and while I may not be in the Real Estate business, I do know enough of it (as well as what to watch out for, scam- and land-extortionist-wise) to offer advice. :)

I have bought and sold land all over the mainland and have never used an agent. I guess the thought never occured to me. I sent you an IM for what it is worth.

There are many plots on the mainland that are wonderful but it takes a bit of searching in land search and teleporting around to find the good ones. It has never taken me more than a few hours to find a prime location.

Hi, Solanghe :)

Over the last year we have rented two mainland plots of land. We prefer to live in the sky so the ground is not really an issue. However, our first mainland rental was gorgeous on the ground and had a lovely Asian theme that no one "mandated" (being mainland) but it just developed that way and maintained.

Until our landlord tiered down and sold his land when the VAT first came out.

I checked out the classifieds under land/properties for sale/rent and found where we have been for the last 6+ plus months. Come to find out, it was being offered by one of our forum peeps - Alt Aabye. :)

When we first rented on this particular mainland sim, it was mishmosh blight on the ground (actually it is a water sim). Again, living in the sky, this didn't concern us. We were looking for a particular size of land within our budget.

Over the last 6 months, the ground/water has completely transformed and is now becoming a really lovely sim. To the extent that it is where I purchased my first-ever land for my store.

If you prefer to live at ground level, then that is something different to consider.

I have really, really enjoyed my mainland experience thus far - both as a renter and now land owner. Good luck in your search and will also be happy to speak with you more if you like. :)

Hey Czari :)

You know, you just gave me an idea: I haven't considered a skybox, which would be actually kind of nice. I will consider this as well while I search. Thanks for your input!

Thanks again to all the great info and advice; I've received lots of IM's and private msgs too and I really appreciate all the help and guidance from you guys.

You all ROCK! (but then you know that)

you can make or buy a skybox, but first you need land. i suggest a very fairly priced piece of grassland somewhere, because that ispriced cheapest right now. since you aren't after a view (water, mountain, etc) it won't matter location... although i suggest you get into a class 5 sim.

i assume you are looking to buy, not rent. i'm also guessing a 512m, because you haven't really been specific.

Actually no, I am looking for a much larger parcel than 512. ;)

Well, as I mentioned in the OP, I would prefer to buy. I have lived (rented) on estate land for over two years with no probs, but I'm considering the mainland for the usual reasons.
I've gotten quite a bit of very good advice so far, so I'm just contemplating my next move. ;)

I would be happy to show you our home on our rented land....then take you over to "ground level" where my shop will be. I also have a small sky home in that area until I get more done on my shop.

That way you could see a combination of what this particular sim looks like on the ground as well as what the skyhomes are like. Just shoot me an IM here on the forums or in world if you would like. :)

I initially purchased a 512 plot for my little shop...then saw an adjacent 1024 next to it so purchased that as well.

I found a really nice woman that deals in Mainland and used her when I purchased the other 1/2 of the sim I now own. Her name is Robin Ivory.
