Totally! Child's play! =^-^=

Only for avatar attached scripts, though. Getting around it with a rezzed prim takes another kind of magic. (^_^)y
Then wouldn't it make sense for LL to fix the "no script" option to actually stop all scripts.

Does this mean griefer scripts (the main reason people set land to "no script";) can run on "no script" land ?
Only if they're attached to an avatar, in which case they're real easy to take care of. The main problem with scripted griefing objects is that you can't stop them.

And, no, Linden Labs can not and will not "fix" this, because it's not a big problem and fixing it would break too much stuff.

Not really... I think it should be the other way around. It's already proven itself to be inneffective. It's already proven itself to be not much more than an annoyance. (^_^)

Basically, it's a too-thick and ill-shaped condom with a hole in it. (^_^)

No-scripts should be removed from parcel options. It hasn't stopped any ACTUAL griefings to date. (^_^)y

A script can continue to run if it holds controls (to allow vehicles and AOs to function).
However, there are certain commands which, if used, will revoke that privilege and stop the script. These are things like applying forces or rezzing, though most of these would probably already be covered by other parcel restrictions in most cases.

'least that's the theory. I've never really tested the limits, and I've never seen it documented in detail.

magic my shiny robotic ass (when I am robotic)... it's all child's play, and just takes a seconds thought to realize it. even no object entry and autoreturn limits are pretty easily defeated, and discovering how is so sickeningly easy that many builders and scripters discover how on accident while doing rather normal work. push restrictions might as well go in there too, they've been broken since day one as well.

the truth is that those settings really don't stop anything, they just happen to be an inconvenience to get around, and end up requiring 4 lines of code where one would have worked before.

Oh, Sine Wave again. Their help page has long carried this peculiar statement:
From: someone
Some AOs do work in 'non scripted' areas - but that is actually a hack. We didn't bother to implement it because in the next month Mono is being implemented across the grid and the hack will no longer work - no AOs will work in script free areas. I guess that will prompt a lot of land owners to change the perms on their land - there's not much we can do about it though.

Why they thought LL planned to break this feature (it's not a hack, it's intended behavior), and why they're sticking to that story a year later, are mysteries.

I know. It's still fun to make it seem like a mystery. (^_^)

I spent part of the day demonstrating to a friend why his vendors kept getting covered up by a thief even though he had all the blocks up. I showed the techniques with the what and how it can all be done in minutes. (^_^)

I'm still working on convincing him to turn autoreturn on. That pretty much takes care of garbage prims. (=_=)

My own parcel is limited only to a TP-point, no-damage, and a 120 minute autoreturn. I have NEVER had problems with this. (^_^)y

He was going through all that work and didn't turn on autoreturn?

That's like getting window bars and an alarm system and leaving all your goods in a tent in the backyard.

Right on the nosie! Next time we play "AR and clean up the vendor overlays", I'll be sure to quote this. (^_^)y
