Here for the base LL viewers, which you'll need first for most of these... http://secondlife.com/support/downloads.phpNicholaz's blog and downloads... http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/There are others, like the OnRez version... http://viewer.onrez.com/One for the 'specialist' market... (WARNING NOT WORK SAFE) http://www.erestraint.com/realrestraint/index.htmAnd text-only clients if you just want to log in and IM... http://www.secondlifeinsider.com/2007/07/19/sleek-the-lightweight-client-for-sl/I know of more, but I can't think of/google the links right now. At least one more text-only client, and two more for bondage/fetish (BDSL and Cool Viewer).

Ohhh, integrated video cards suck for SL. My hubby's comp came with a built in x200... which sucked hard for SL. Not that it matters now, since we've long since added a physical card to it as well as a new power supply.

Just follow his instructions. Copy the exe into you SL folder. Coppy the handful of xml files as well. Create a shortcut from his exe and use that to start SL. It may run smoother and more stable, than the LL viewer. If you don't like it, just start sl from the regualr exe and delete the nicholaz one.

From: Jack42 Meredith <snip> are the graphics better? what is the advantage? The graphics are the same but the Nicholaz viewer seems to use machine resources much more efficiently. With the standard viewer I had most of my Windlight settings cut down a fair bit, dropping Anisotropic shading & water reflections, moving the mesh sliders down to about halfway and keeping the draw distance below 200m. Even then I could sometimes lock up and crash if I moved my camera too quickly. With the same machine I now have everything at full apart from Reflection Detail (Static objects only), and I commonly have draw distance above 300m. I'm also running a bigger monitor now... 1920*1200 instead of 1280*768 (and yes, using all those pixels). Moving the camera quickly can cause the odd jitter, but nothing more than a split second and I've yet to crash.

And if your machine just can't handle Windlight, like mine, you can use the BE-W viewer and not have Windlight at all.

From: Kelli May I know of more, but I can't think of/google the links right now. At least one more text-only client, and two more for bondage/fetish (BDSL and Cool Viewer). @Kelli The Cool Viewer is not at all a bondage/fetish viewer. It is a rock stable everyday everyone SL viewer with a lot of bugfixes, patches and features the standard Linden viewer doesn't have. Besides that it features the old UI as the Nicholaz viewers that many still prefer. An added bonus is the option to switch it into a RLV mode compatible to Marine Kelley's RestrainedLife. So one doesn't have to install two viewers for the "special occasions" . This feature is however disabled per default, needs a changing in the preferences and for security reasons also a relog. The Cool Viewer is available in Linux, Windows and Mac versions.
