Items missing from land. Why? What to do?

Almost every day lately, things go missing from our land. A wall, another wall, now a wall, half the castle and some pose balls. They are not getting returned, they are just gone!

I noticed that there has been a little red bot next to the property a few times. Could this be some prim-stealing bot?

WTF?

Is there anything to be done? Is it a bug?

Something is definitely afoot. I had a customer contact me the other day to say that his skybox had simply vanished. Not returned, and he'd been wearing the correct land tag; it had simply gone. Of course, he could have been pulling my leg, to get another copy of the skybox, but I'm seeing too many reports of things inexplicably vanishing to disbelieve him.

I have had a chim with a lot of dances disappear, a fountain, and a sitting Santa. Have tried everything to find them and they are gone.. mine disappeared while trying to rez them tho

About 6 months ago I had two pieces of rezzed furniture and a Pillow Talk Pillow disappear from our home within a day or so of each other. About 2 weeks later, one of my THinC storage boxes, also kept permanently rezzed in our home poofed. (I have 3 of them out and only one vanished - naturally the one with over 100 avatar items - hair, skins, outfits, etc.)

I did all the known recovery things, put in a help ticket and talked to live help. I was basically told by both the response to my ticket and live help that if the items had been in my inventory *then* they could likely recover them, but not rezzed items.

(I wonder if the help desk tells that to people whose inventory items go missing.)

when they reset a sim it goes back in time and nocopy items go away i lost 100's of things
talked to a linden years ago about it even if it is in a back up they dont have time to go look for one item in millions told me to ask the creator to send me another

Are you sure? A rollback goes back in time, but I've never heard of a reset causing that.

I've had a tenant recently tell me they messed up autoreturn and lost items. My stuff on that parcel came back to me.

The same tenant has also been telling me their items have been being moved. I had this some months ago, the doors on my homes were moving, and by quite a distance. I logged in with an alt to see if I could move the doors and I couldn't, so something was most definitely amiss.

As far a I know, that's correct - rollbacks cause things that were rezzed between the time rolled back to and the present to disappear for good, but restarts don't have that effect.

And of course the question is whether the things that go disappearing are the things most recently added to the sim. If not, I should think that something other than a rollback is happening here.

Yes when they rolled back the land I had I lost the pool that I was making. It was just like I hadnt done anything that whole day.

In my case, I've lived on the same sim for a year and the missing items were rezzed in world for the same amount of time.

I lost a beach house last week...as posted about on another similar thread...it just went POOF...not in my inventory...not returned...not set for sale and bought...just GONE..the resident was as astonished as me to see his belongings just out there on the beach.

I think its the servers (voice of doooooom)

Gah! It's bad enough to lose individual items but entire houses!!! That's just bizarre!

I bet the resident was surprised! When I lived in a studio apt. when I first came to SL, I went afk for about 45 minutes to eat dinner, etc. When I returned, I found myself standing in what looked like a desert with a "For Rent" sign next to me with scattered bits of furniture strewn about (none mine.)

In that case, our entire sim had been hit by some "attack bomb" thing set off by a disgruntled (and banned) former resident. I couldn't believe something could actually destroy virtually every build on the sim.

Anyway....I sure hope this "disappearing items" bug/whatever gets fixed FAST!!!

Come to think of it; our skybox goes missing from time to time. We tp up and find our furniture and other items floating in mid air.

always check 0,0,0, on the sim, recently I have found disappearing items end up there and items i didn't know had disappeared too

A long rezzed item from my land has gone missing. It is not at 0,0,0 in the region, or in inventory. I wonder how common this is?

I did that with every missing item and never found anything.

just a little bit creepy, was logged in tonight in lil sturgis sim
res'd one of my custom bikes, ala nobody else has one, rode for a minute then gave up due to lag and parked it out front. sit down in a chair there and listen to the dj for a bit, get bored and go to get on my bike, it's gone, not in my lost and found or trash folder, I'm just a little pissed off thinking someone hacked the lock unlock and rode off with it.
call management, they search both sims accessible from there, and tell me there isn't anything in sim with my name on it.
ok so now I'm left with wondering how somebody managed to pick my bike up, and walk off with it, countless hours of sculpts and scripting gone without a trace, is this an sl server issue or someone that has figured out a hack to steal items from under there owners noses, I was maybe 18m from the bike the whole time.

I have zero clue how to get answers, not even overly sure how or where to vote for this thread, this isn't a small thing, this is a big thing, if it's server related they need to fix it, if it's a hack and steal it needs secured and prosecuted...

ACK!!! I'm so sorry to hear that about your bike...and yeah...what the heck IS going on??

Added a comment to the jira- we need more votes- I cannot imagine this is a limited occurrence to just us.

There are sooo many people who don't read the forums (and amazingly a lot who don't even know they exist!) so this can't just be happening to a small, select group that just happens to also post on the forums.
