Downloaded and ran Emerald yesterday, then went dancing (Frank's). A very high proportion of the Avatars there had their names above their heads in green, plus the word Emerald after the name. I assume this means they were running Emerald. My name though, to me, stayed the normal orangey colour and without 'Emerald' after it.
Is this normal or is there something within Emerald I need to set?

Runing Emerald, your own name will not show in green. Maybe the "Emerald" showing under their names was a group tag.

Is this normal or is there something within Emerald I need to set? It's normal, and yes it means they are using Emerald. Emerald is supposed to also identify other non-standard viewers, but I haven't seen that happen yet.

Seems like you've gotten a bunch of non- and partial-answers. So. If your run Emerald, everybody else who runs Emerald will show up with green tags and "Emerald User" or whatever it says, under their names. Yours, however, will not show green, I guess under the assumption that you already know you're running Emerald and you don't need to be told by your viewer.

That's one thing that I *really* dislike about Emerald. Putting the name in green is bad enough, but adding " Emerald)" after the name is really bad, imo. I changed the settings so it doesn't do that any more and my name appears normal when I use that viewer, which isn't often these days.

Is this normal or is there something within Emerald I need to set? Right now, it can't be changed using any settings, but could be done with a new compiled viewer version.

Not everybody who use Emerlad viewer will be highlighted with the green tag. If you use the latest Emerald you can also hide this option using the stealth modus so you are shown as *unknown*

Some of the settings can be changed -- Emerald tab of Preferences, TP/Login tab: For a bit of explanation on the fields, here is the Emerald Feature List documentation (scroll down about 3-4 pages for info on the above fields): http://modularsystems.sl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=24&Itemid=16.

Thanks all. Now I just need to explore all the features that Emerald has. Found the 'worn' tab (useful) and the boob bounce option so far but that's about it.

From: Brenda Connolly How many frigging bells and whistles does this Emerald thingie have, anyway? Tons. It has built-in radar and AO, it tells you whether people are online even if they aren't on your friends list, you can see how tall you are, you can see breasts jiggle (if you want), you get more decimal places in building, twice as many attach points, RLVa functions (if you want them), encoded IMs (if you want them), a built-in scripting language (Lua - not integrated yet, though), you can make calculations and write some commands on the chat line, ...

From: Brenda Connolly Uhm....OK. Nothing for power shopping? not interested, even if I could run it The only thing that helps my power shopping is the 'double-click teleport' feature. I'm at a mall, looking at a store and then want to skip the next few stores and go to maybe the fifth one down. Rather than walking or flying, I can cam there, double-click the ground and I am there. Granted other tools will do this too and it only speeds things up a bit.

From: Naz Fride Those are those only really important ones. Oh no they're not *The* most important ones are the temporary (free) uploads for textures and animations, plus you can see the animations on your own avatar - not in a teeny little box that the standard viewer provides. Of course, not everyone will consider those to be the most important and, since I've never managed to see any jiggly boobs, that bit is a washout Out of interest, is it possible that my graphics is not set high enough for jiggly boobs? It's set to Mid but it can handle High. ETA: I finally saw a jiggle At Mid, High and Ultra it was the same - a tiny jiggle when she stopped walking but nothing while she was walking.

Unless you set the parametors for breast physics abnormally high it's very hard to see any bounce at all..........unless you cam in tight. Then the avi movement causes the bounce to be nearly impossible to see anyway. It's nothing to worry about in my opinion.

The Worn tab is indespensible...I have it in my Cool Viewer, and it is so useful, especiially during Roleplaying when quick changes are sometimes needed. I can't fathom why LL hasn't added it to the standard viewer.
