*sigh* Yes, Privateer Space. But I still have my Swinetrek and my Martian Riding Lizard, at least...

I miss the teleport hub at ahern. A group of us would play the newbie game.. each of us sitting on one of the teleport pads. If a newbie landed on our pad, all the others had to pay the newbie 10 or whatever the amount was for the night. Schwanson, you lucky dog you, we paid out a lot more money than you did!

The original Eros with its beautiful Roman ampitheatre and baths.
And the Temple of Hathor - the Egyptian temple that Terramis Sojourner and I built over 90% of Fujin. I have so few pictures too. Perhaps as well, makes me sad to remember it. _____________________
Tin Teddy - a beautiful island full of unique prefabs, high quality, original 3 & 1 prim plants, animated animals and much more.
Elgyfu's Egyptian Emporium - SL's premier store for Ancient Egyptian artifacts, since 2004. |

The Garden of NPIRL Delights I only just discovered it a short time before it ended. Amazing stuff there. I wish they kept this longer. I spent a lot of days there, and really needed more time to finish it up. I did get to keep some of the objects before they dismantled it, so at least I have some nice souveniers ![]() _____________________

I find this thread very interesting, I've heard of many of these places but sadly they were before my SL time.
But now that we are talking about these wonderful, lost places, post some pictures of them! I'd love to see them. I'd also love to see pictures from SL's birth if there are any pilgrim's in the forums. ![]() On this same note, don't you think that LL's should step in from time to time, on great builds, and preserve them? Like the Historic Trust societies around the world. Some of these builds should not be lost from SL. If so, what sims do you think should be preserved for all of eternity? (I think we may have had this conversation here before but I can't remember) And post those URL's so we can all go visit them before they are gone. FaTeke _____________________

I'd also love to see pictures from SL's birth if there are any pilgrim's in the forums. Me too. I love some of the shots in what was the SL History wiki (nto the Second Life wiki in Wikia) and I love peering at the older shots on Snapzilla. On this same note, don't you think that LL's should step in from time to time, on great builds, and preserve them? Like the Historic Trust societies around the world. Some of these builds should not be lost from SL. If not LL, then someone. Mari _____________________

Is Black Swan gone?!?! Nope - it's still there. They are now requiring that you buy a L$200 wristwatch to enter, though. If you try to explore Black Swan without wearing one, a security thingie will come by and teleport you home within a few minutes. edit: http://rezzable.com/blog/rightasrain-rimbaud/the-end-world-as-we-know-it ..On this same note, don't you think that LL's should step in from time to time, on great builds, and preserve them? Maybe not a 'build' but it's something that deserves to stick around. _____________________

The infohub (whose name escapes me) that was setup to be based on Silent Hill, complete with fog - now it is just a patch of grass ![]() That's gone?? Crap. I can't recall at the moment what sim it was, but it was a pretty cool build... very detailed, great spooky atmosphere. I'm sorry to hear it's gone. And the Temple of Hathor - the Egyptian temple that Terramis Sojourner and I built over 90% of Fujin. I have so few pictures too. Perhaps as well, makes me sad to remember it. I remember that... amazing place! I miss it, too. It was really beautiful. I have a ton of pictures... let me know if you ever want more, I'd be happy to email you what I have. ![]() The are now requiring that you buy a L$200 wristwatch to enter, though. If you try to explore Black Swan without wearing one, a security thingie will come by and teleport you home within a few minutes. Seriously?? Wow, that's so bizarre! Now I want to go there and try it. ![]() _____________________

I also miss Cotton's Dystopia.... it was such a huge, mysterious, unsettling build. Very detailed, and bits of it were always changing.
And of course a couple of the temporary places, like Neverland and Chinatown, that were never meant to be permanent. They were fun while they lasted. I'm sure I'll come up with more later. Does anyone have an update on the Privateer Space situation, by the way? _____________________

Seriously?? Wow, that's so bizarre! Now I want to go there and try it. ![]() Yep. Rezzable finally blogged about it - see my post above for the url. The security thing is actually kinda fun to watch. If you've got to log out in 10 minutes, it's worth it to head over there and wander around without the watch, just to see yourself get incinerated by the security thing. But.. Having some idea how much my friend Sindy has spent on Light Waves stuff, and how they ignored her when she lost one of his pieces in a sim crash, I'm not surprised that them now demanding L$200 to see what's new has pissed her off to the point where she's deleted her Black Swan LM. She's been bit by the art bug, though. She'll probably be back.. _____________________

I miss a lot of the slingo places that were around before the gambling ban. Most of the owners at the time quit the game business completely. There are a few of us that stuck around to see slingo get accepted again, but the ones that still exist have scaled back on their prizes. Of the ones that are gone, I miss Cadillac the most. It was very common there to find some games paying out over L$20,000.

The Alien Invasion was amazing. /me is now sad ![]() I'm with ya. I like the old seaside Tableau, but really really loved the desert Tableau. The dark bayou Tableau, while technically nice, is not some place I can warm too. My sister, who loved the desert tableau even more than me, refers to the new one as looking like "a fever dream." Virtual Festival. Kinda like Dance Island today. One of my first newbie places to hang out at just danceā¦listen to music and be wowed by the whole SL thing. Virtual Festival?!?! OMG!!!! Me too!! The first two places I hung out at when I got here were Virtual Festival and GOL3! And I was wowed the same way. I've been trying to get that feeling back ever since. It was like going to Narnia or something - magical ![]() Now it's just lag, lag, lag, attachment enema, drama, lag, lag, drama, access denied, what transaction? lag, sim crossing dismemberment, lag, lag... I also miss my first job @ House of Atreus, and my ex's club Cadillac Lounge. Oh and where did Hot Rocks go? Good times ![]() _____________________

The black sand beach and crystal cave in Santum Sanctorum
Jubata Shadowed Mist before it became Gor The ice cathedral and cave in Nemesis Privateer Space is still there as of this moment, though plastered with big "closed" barriers- I hope that the creator will decide to reopen it once whatever mystery insult she suffered gets resolved by LL. It would definitely be a huge loss if it goes away |

The black sand beach and crystal cave in Santum Sanctorum Jubata I'm glad to hear Privateer Space is still around! The black sand beach was gorgeous... there are some pretty cool things being built at Sanctum now, though. It changes a lot, but the new elements are always equally good. Did you mean some specific build in Jubata? I know Tusk used to be there-- a big gothy castle sort of build. It has its own sim now, thank goodness. _____________________

Braunworth is gone??? Noooooo!!! ![]() Hmmm, confusing. I was just at Braunworth-- some elements of Little Silent Hill are still there. I didn't look around as much as I wanted too-- it was pretty laggy-- but it looked as if part is now some sort of cathedral, and part is still there. _____________________

It would definitely be a huge loss if it goes away I do too. But mostly because Aley's a friend of mine, and I hope she's okay. Oyster Bay. Morris Vig has a small plot now in Bay City, and has a nice art space there. Mari Edited to add: peeked around Braunsworth. Little Silent Hill is still behind it. _____________________
