In SL, a lot of places come an go. Are there any you miss?

I know I miss a lot of them.

- Kitto Flora's Never-Neverland and Sweetheart's Park were some of the first kid places I used to go to.

- Phoenix Spa was great, and had a nice story group. The group did relocate, but it wasn't really the same.

- DharmaEcho Gardens was about the first place I ever went to, and was one of the best.

- The big amusement part in Oakmyst II / Phyllira

There's also a lot of places I heard of (way before my time), but never got the chance to explore, like

- Americana

- Neverland

- LindenWorld (the amusement park)

What places hold fond memories for others?

I almost included that on my list, too. I only went there once before it closed. If I could go back in time and all that...

- Americana

I got to see this completly by accident my first couple of days inworld. It wasn't what it used to be, I guess, but it looked like it was amazing when it was fully operative.

Is it totally gone now?

For ages, as far as I know. Some of it was at SL4B last year. A bit on the (no pun intended) primitive side, but stil cool to see.

The Spitoonie Amusement Park. I was there only a few times and thought it was pretty cool. It was going to be place to go back to from time to time but it went away not long after I joined and found it.

Krittania, bar none.

From the depths of the ninth circle, up through various levels to the Mortal World, to the City of God, lost Eden and at last, in a blaze of light, the hall of the Omnipotent.

Absolutely brilliant. And yes I was tricked into taking the apple in Eden...

>_<

Doh!

So early on, but even today it would still rank high I am sure.

The Garden of NPIRL Delights

I only just discovered it a short time before it ended. Amazing stuff there.

I missed the Three Lions pub at Bourton sim. I was there at the last night when they had over 70 people in without crashing. It had a great atmosphere.

However, the Three Lions is open again, in a different sim now. Woot!

I saw it once, I think. My computer then was way under SL specs, so nothing really ever loaded for me. I've looked at piccies on Snapzilla, an it sure looks like it was fun!

Ya know, I enjoy SL5B (barring all the controversies) and I like Burning Life -- but I sure wish SL had a huge "Summer Carnival."

I miss The Forest. It was my first home in SL, and was the oldest Furry community in SL. Then... things happened. Most of the content in the sim got deleted. The residents and the Land Baroness had issues over how it came to that state, and what to do... Pretty much the whole community packed up and left. The sim still exists, but the community there died. Going back is like... finding a Wal-Mart where your grade school used to be, and parking lots in place of your favorite park... What's there now has no resemblance to what it once was. The current residents may like it, but it's not what it once was.

I miss Wailele Island. One of the first sims I ever built, and the first place I ever owned land. A tropical paradise, with a water park by the harbor. Sadly, after it passed through several owners, it got flattened and paved...

I miss the Taco sim. Cartoony furry fun. Lots of friendly people in a sim that was intentionally on the "toon" side of Furry.

Virtual Festival. Kinda like Dance Island today. One of my first newbie places to hang out at just dance…listen to music and be wowed by the whole SL thing.

Mens WearHouse. Yeah I know its odd to miss a mall but that's where I learned how to shop and blow money. I would even take dates there because it had a Womans WearHouse on the other end. They streamed top 40 music and I have a few songs that take me back to the thrill of flying past all the shops. It was also my first experience of a place to just disappear too. I remember tping in and finding it all flat and empty. Not a building or tree….nothing. Sadly that of course wouldn’t be the last place to just disappear like that.

I miss Oakmyst too. When I started in SL, the first home I rented was there, right next door to the giant pink and yellow slide. I loved that place, and I miss Kate and Larina. I sometimes wonder what happened to cause them to abandon the land so suddenly without explanation.

When I first joined and bought my first land I used to tp everywhere looking at things.I found Cornwall UK and it reminded me of home,Harbour, rocks and small cottages.I lived there until the casino crash and just managed to get out before it folded.I still tp to the sim but it has all changed. One of these days I will make my own.

There was a vampire sort of club that I wandered into my first night in SL. It had a lot of secret passages and BDSM stuff. At the time I thought it was pretty bizarre, and I missed it when it was gone.

Then there was Bedrock. I got banned from it due to some stupid drama I got involved in, but I respect the build itself.

Now. Privateer Space of course.

I miss a couple of very old and long gone clubs that were my introduction to SL - Schwanson's "Punany Club" and the "High Society".

My favorite place was with the first character I made in SL... he used to go to Bingo hosted by Germaine. Wish I could remember the name of the land, but it was a gorgeous outdoor area with animals and everything while you were playing Bingo. Was a lot of fun. Bingoland park or something.
