Wow that sucks. I just joined a few days ago and quite preferred it over this one. Though I think it was the business/economy forum I liked.

I'm sorry to see SC go. We will all be feeling the suck of the vacuum of it's absence.

It's over. Can't post there anymore. Reality didn't sink in until right now. I'm sooooo sad. Damn.

I mean darn.

My reading of things is it just became too much to handle. The love of running it was gone. I get the same impression from LL with the forums. I think what saves us is that I'm stubborn, that or LL really does care. I don't know.

Slowly, the people climb the side of the mountain, past clouds of rain and into cold sunlight, chanting the ancient dirge for the dead.

The body of the beloved is laid on the pyre, oils and perfumes are poured onto the wood, the lit torch is thrown in, and flames leap to the sky.

All are silent. In the distance the cries of a single bird of prey pierce the sound of the wind.

The rune master sings the runes of rebirth and renewal.

There's forums at slexchange.com, pretty active ones. I think of the slexchange.com forums as "the forgotten forums". It doesn't get mentioned much in discussions of SL forums but it's got a decent bit of traffic.

For those checking out the SLuniverse forums, if you don't like the default dark interface you can change the interface to a blue one, sort of a default vBulletin look that will be sort of familiar looking.

There's also the sl.stratics.com forum.

It isn't a case of "pick a forum" - it has to be the right place. Everyone runs a forum differently, and the mix of people that come to feel at home there varies accordingly. It is going to be a while, if at all, for anything similar to pop up. Cris does a great job at SLU, but the SLX forums are pretty different from SC, and Stratics is a non-starter.

We'll see what happens. Crushing blow at the moment, however, for a lot of people.

There was more to it than that. I don't all the details, but he had to throw in the towel because of extenuating circumstances causes by some posters who went way overboard.

Most forums run Google adsense as a main or only source of income.

Google has the right to pull everything in an instant and regularly polices the content on their affiliate web sites. Adult or offensive content must be labeled as such and blocked without age consent given or else lights out!!!!

The trick of running a forum is know exactly WHEN to step in ad of course when not too.
You have a good team of moderators and you wont go far wrong ...

even after all of that it can still be difficult to setup and get up off the ground. Certainly ive tried pimping my SLUK.INFO forum for ages ... its just hard to get people positing rather than just trolling.
May this issue over the over zelous posters etc wasnt dealt with well ...
