Why do some people seem to be pathological complainers?

From: Rebecca Proudhon It wasn't meant to be. It was serious. We knew that answer from the first post.

From: Talarus Luan Hence, it is why service providers often get hit with these "chronic complainers", because they make mistakes __just like everyone else__, and can often be reminded of them. The question is what is the point of the complaint? For many who just care a bit too passionately, it is nothing more than a burning desire to see our benevolent providers simply do better.
When you put it in that light, it is a lot easier to deal with. Well, yes.. setting them on fire would make it easier to deal with... This burning desire is also why when such a person is asked why don't they just leave, we will never hear an answer. They don't want to leave, because all they feel they are asking is for is perfection. The kind of complainer I really don't like is the one that complains about things they can do something about. (AKA, I love the ignore feature )

People are complaining a lot daily in SL, IMO, because it's "sold" as a finished product, but when you use it...it has all the bugs of a videogame in the production phase.
I can draw a comparison to a few videogames that have come out in the last 2 years. Certain games are REAL popular for a few months, but the users complain non-stop as they play, about 1 certain limitation or bug, because technology keeps making such huge leaps yearly, that by the time we are sick of complaining about a limitation, it's usually "fixed".
People are taking these advances for granted, and our brains expect more and more "instant" gratification. Certain projects, like SL, are huge are require years to stabilize or complete. Meanwhile the creators have bills to pay, they have to eat, but it takes almost all of thier waking hours to keep the project moving forward, so they charge for the unfinished product while they are working on it, as in SL.
...while I don't see many examples of companies being able to charge year after year for huge unfinished products like this, I ain't too shocked either. The human race right now will do almost anything to make giant leaps in technology, and reap the (usually) substantial monetary rewards.

From: FD Spark Wow what asset you must be to community and anyone in need of your assistance. Gives one new reason to not want to be a mentor. Don't worry, FD. Anyone who thinks that being a Mentor gives them the right to "smack" anyone is sadly mistaken. Mentors have no special police powers. Why, last weekend I encountered a girl who'd been trying to teleport off OI for days. Failed tp, every time. I tried to drag her off with a tp offer from another location...same problem. She had submitted a support ticket, with no response. So I submitted one. It was quickly stamped "CLOSED" with a stock reply, which we'd already tried. So I reopened it. It came back "CLOSED" with a snappy note that "neither your Concierge or Mentor status will aid you in getting help for this resident, she must wade through our cumbersome ticket process on her own" (not an exact quote, but that was the gist of it). It's hard enough being a helper. Mentors who try to be police will find that they very quickly become non-Mentors.

From: Conifer Dada Some people are habitual complainers just because they are, in the same way that others of us hardly ever complain! I am so sick of people who don't complain.
