I worked for Second Life Police long time. We are usually rejected. So i stopped, now i manage sandboxes. Police who work in Second Life should they stay. I would say no to Role playing unless they have their own sim. But the cops mostly just do what the normal people do report people. Why would people fill out reports to give to cops in Second Life when they can fill them out them selfs?

SL Police doesn't exist. They're vigilantes blended with discreet greifers. There are way better things to do and be on the grid. (=_=)

So called police are nothing but psychotics with a penchant for bullying and griefing. Come and hassle me and see what happens to you.

No, I think The Police should tour again.

The only good thing to come of SL police are some spiffy uniforms for kinky RP.

Police is a bad name since it implies that it's an official, sanctioned organization. Anybody that knows what's what will know that LL doesn't sanction _any_ enforcement group except their own and that's likely why you usually get rejected. I've met a few 'police' people in SL and they seemed pretty cool - there's nothing they can do that I can't do, though.

If they had a different title that better described what they did/can do, they would be more accepted.

yes, but with the new adult content rules coming (and the existing limits on what can go in the group names...)

they can't put an accurate name in there... short of taking a cue from firefly or futurerama

Would it be very impolite to ask your age? For me, the "police" I have run into falls in two categories: a) underage residents or b) people that failed getting into any real life police training but still under 25.

You might differ, at least you know that it was time to get out.

Frankly for the rest of us, AR works, any selfproclaimed "police officer" would be banned from my sim in a second. I can fill out an AR.

When you say you manage sandboxes, is this on behalf of yourself or the owner?
If on behalf of the owner, do you still present yourself as police?

I think the police should continue operations, but not in sims where newbies hang out. It's us older residents that know enough to cause more trouble. SL police should come to my parcels and investigate me.

Of course, I have the right not to remain silent . . .:D

Yes, they do, Tania...heheheh.

Some SL police are not troublemakers, but people just looking for an avenue to be helpful, and mentoring is not always a desirable option. And I know some spend their patrolling time helping newbs and answering questions. Nothing really evil in that.

I like the SL Police. When I see one on my land it gives me the chance to freeze them, put poop on their head and send them them flying:)

All but one experience I have had with SL "Police" has been negative. They tend to be griefers at worst and vigilantes at best. The biggest issue I see with them is that they present themselves as a somewhat official "authority," which in my opinion causes more harm than any good.
