Congratulations, Desmond. To me, Caledon and what you have brought out of your initial vision is exactly one of the wonders that makes SL so very fascinating and addictive to me. Thank you, even though I am not one of your residents. :)

That's not supposed to be until March, I thought. February is supposed to be "Promote your Clique and it's events month."

Dear Desmond (ahem),

I doubt I'm the only one, and in fact I doubt there would be hardly any doubters, to say that this really couldn't have happened without you and your vision. I stumbled into SL half-way through your despotic reign, uhm, wise stewardship, and not long after became acquainted with you and your realms.

Frankly, I'm not sure if I'd have stayed in SL this long had I not plopped down in Caledon, first in the brand new SteamSkyCity and currently in the Moors. I look forward to a lag, er, long future in these lands, where indeed the civility and intellect is a joy to behold. Except for the occasional nut cases.

Seriously, Des, it's all on you. Yes, an incredible cast and crew, but you are the Producer/Director, and today is a day you can be very pleased with what has become. And maybe, just maybe, take a few hours away from all this and relax. That's when I'll be hacking your RL bank accounts.

With warm respect,
Sincerely yours,
Envoy Costagravas, Esq.

Congrats, Des-I'm totally in awe of what you have done with Caledon (and I'm secretly hoping that one day I might live there too...). This IS what SL should all be about! You should go and declare DesDay! ;)

Thanks for being proof that it is possible to make money in SL by adding value. And hanging on to your integrity while doing it.

This surprisingly practical response is a perfect answer to the lazy critics who have already appeared in this thread. Desmond's success story is one more example to answer a question I've entertained many times inworld and out. Yes, it is possible. Good luck.

And congratulations.

If he's got a waiting list, that sort of negates the need for land for sale spam, doesn't it?

(notice how I phrased it as a question)

Congrats Desmond! Very impressive accomplishment!

One knows it is a huge day when Desmond steadfastly refuses to do ANY business for 24 hours. It is a bit of a standing joke in Caledon that he walks around in a perpetual "IM hell" and one can expect any conversation to be interrupted by 20 second pauses, followed by profuse apologies. At the same time, he gladly will give large chunks of his time to new people, explaining to them how things work, and encouraging them in their struggling builds.

I know, as I was just such a newb once, and it was the people of Caledon who caught my heart. It's not just a veneer of RP politeness, it's real genuine goodness and sharing. But they never take themselves too seriously (welllllll...hardly ev-ah!!)

But once again, none of it would have happened without "Da Guvnah", who made a place that we were actually able to explore our Steampunk dreams and share them our friends.

Thank you!

NOW, off to the online celebration :)
