though putting the HUDs BEHIND the TP point is kinda silly. *pokes out her tongue in an annoyed fashion* It took me a few moments to figure out where the HUD was when I realized I wasn't getting it from the instruction boards.

People who came into CSI through the CBS.com portal got the HUD as part of their download of the OnRez viewer, so the problem you mention only happened for existing SL residents, or for people who decided to just go to secondlife.com rather than to CBS. The sign was clearly visible from the landing point... but because of rez delays, people had often moved past it before they could see the sign. I agree that the sign could have been better placed; it was a problem that nobody caught during testing, because there were no rez delays then!

The greeters were busy trying to remind people to pick up the toolbar HUD, especially anybody who didn't arrive wearing one of the CSI stock avatars. (If you came through the CBS.com portal, you went through a third-party registration process run by ESC, and were offered a choice of twelve pre-designed avatars, which we all quickly learned to recognize.) Alas, there weren't enough greeters to go around; many of the orientation areas were unstaffed.

Disclaimer: I am a CSI:NY greeter, but this is not an official opinion of ESC or CBS.

Granted, the CSI:NY stuff took place on private islands, but perhaps it was a rental arrangement, that had to be islands due to the number of sims involved:

Seems plausable, at least...

I can't get the sound to work in the CSI sims either so I haven't really played their crime solving game. I guess I'll try it later.

The sound doesn't work unless you're wearing the toolbar. The toolbar seems to work more reliably in the OnRez viewer than in the standard LL viewer; it's a very complex HUD, and the OnRez viewer may contain bug fixes that are related to it. The CSI build also rezzes faster if you use the OnRez viewer, because the textures are included in the viewer download.

I recommend using the OnRez viewer (available at viewer.onrez.com) for playing CSI. I leave it up to you to decide whether you want to use it at other times.

It wasn't clear how to get the hud/tool bar thing even when I clicked the get tool bar link. All I saw was a lot of words about something else at the onrez site...I must missed something.
