I don't know.

Do people actually call the police when they see a car do a rolling stop at an intersection in RL? :)

I? never see them or know that I do?
One of my friends use to live off them when we were new, so they could go shopping.

It depends. How annoying is the place that they are in? Is it also full of people "hooooo"ing constantly?

I don't report, but I do IM the owner and ask them if they know it is illegal. Then I leave it up to them. You can get in a bit of trouble just playing them too.

It's a once-popular "lottery" device of sorts; you can pay into the pot while a timer is running, and then when the timer runs out it "explodes" and pays the pot back out, usually with one big winner (and a cut to the owner of the device, and in many cases a cut to the original creator of the object).

It's bad because it's technically a gambling device and therefore against the TOS as of a few months ago.

Oh, and many of them are just plain annoying because they SHOUT as the game progresses, and some owners can't be bothered to change that configuration option to make them less obnoxious.

there are some legal ones, i came across one in my travels that when it exploded a bunch of dollor signs spewed out everywhere and whomever touched the most won the larger chunk of the prize. aparently that made it legit.

I file ARs on people who come to rolling stops, and call the police about sploders. Its more fun for everyone that way.

That's the thing though, some are illegal, most work to be just around the rules and in the grey area, and then of course there are some that use voting or whatever and are legal.

for those that report on sight, this isn't like armed robbery or murder which I suggest you do report on sight but what makes you're life so bored that you feel you have to report a violation of a rule that makes no sense to anybody except a tiny religious minority who happen to run the U.S. at the moment and what makes you think that it's you're job to flag stuff to LL that may not be illegal in the first place and if it isn't you're wasting their time so you can what? sleep better at night knowing that you helped them enforce the rules?

Oh come off it. That is a load of bullshit and you know it. Things will be no different and would have been no different no matter who is/was elected.

Unless by religious you mean those who worship the power of the state and seek to gain it for themselves.

It's generalizing because it really depends on which type of gambling you engage in (driving a car is gambling with you're life for example, walking down the sidewalk is...etc) but in general in terms of traditional gambling you're grandfather was probably right.

If you have a better way to explain how why the U.S. Government has banned something that's legal in most of Europe, The Carribean, Canada, and many other places across the world and is legal without the fabric of society falling apart in those places I might add, I'd like to hear it.

I could agree with you except most people dont call driving or walking, gambling.

No they wouldn't but considering the automobile accidents in the U.S. nowadays especially those that result in an unsuspecting person being injured or killed by a choose one (drunk, asleep, high, psychotic) driver, driving a car is a gamble but I guess that's neither here or there in terms of the topic of this thread.
