From: Weston Graves In my parcels I stream ambient electronica, leaning toward ambient techno or IDM.
In real life I listen to about 300 years worth of music from Claudio Monteverdi and John Dowland all the way up to the present day -- with a heavy dose of bombastic 70's English progressive rock.
Bearing in mind I'm a middle aged codger, some of my favorite slightly more up to date tastes include:
Awww - you guys didn't really want to know all that. But who can resist championing the music you like?
. I love Tallis and listen to his work on Sundays when I can. Maybe I harbour Catholic desires? Call me Sister Jig. Telemann and Philip Glass also love. I love a bit of the old Wagner too, especially The Ring.

....I have my parcel station set for some middle eastern music station that is apparently broadcast from Italy. As far as what *I* listen to tho, it's usually the stuff I have downloaded on my hard drive.

This morning I am listening to Teddy Thompson (progeny of Richard and Linda) who hangs around with the Wainwright sprogs.
Pep (Talking of The Big Pink, I'd prefer to be listening to Robbie Robertson but my son has nicked those CDs; smart kid.)

Music is one of my big time loves, and one of the reasons I stayed in SL. It's also one of the things that keeps me here as well. Lately, I've been mostly into jazz, with occasional forays into rock and blues. Those three genres are my favorites, but I also love some world music and some trip hop type stuff (Morcheeba, Delirium and Thievery Corporation among others.) My favorites at the moment are: Sarah Vaughan (best singer ever....pipes and she knows how to SING, which apparently is becoming a lost art) Billie Holiday w/Lester Young Thelonious Monk - Brilliant Corners and Live At Carnegie Hall (w/Coltrane) John Coltrane - Soultrane, Blue Train and Spiritual Louis Armstrong - Hot Five and Sevens Horace Silver - Song For My Father Joe Henderson - anything Modern Jazz Quartet and Milt Jackson - Milt picks up the sticks and good stuff just flows from his vibraphone (Just got Bags Meets Wes Montgomery...woot) Terrence Blanchard - The Billie Holiday Songbook Neko Case Lucinda Williams Cowboy Junkies Peter Gabriel Sarah McLachlan Bowie Roxy Music and since Halloween is coming up, Concrete Blonde - The Bloodletting and Rob Zombie. I've also gotten back into Jim Carroll after his death and cannot get enough of Wicked Gravity. And I'm always up for some Cowboy Junkies, and since everything they do is impeccable, what I listen to depends on the day. I've also had the itch to add my classical CDs to my hard drive, but damn......I hate ripping large quantities of CDs....lol.

I can't be bothered.I have about 1500 CD's in my collection.

How weird is that? Not too wierd.. Check out the Jets-N-Guns soundtrack by Machinae Supremacy. Think the entire thing is still available for free on their site. Check out the game if you want your ass seriously kicked Omg.. h.a.r.d.

From: Dana Hickman I think I've said it the last 3 times one of these threads came up, and in all due respect I'll say it again... Lightweights! Well now -- I've never been thought of as that before. That sounds like a challenge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77uVmkb6oes&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77uVmkb6oes&feature=related (It's so odd. Sometimes I can get the links to work enclosed in the IMG tags, sometimes not.) Metal or hard rock is one of my (not so) guilty pleasures. But then, I bought all the Ozzy era Sabbath albums when they were new and still on vinyl. Of your list, I would say Queensryche is at the top of the heap as they virtually invented progressive metal. Sabbath flirted with it but never really pursued it - the progressive side I mean. Dream Theater is also a good one.

You COULD have picked Starlight. But no, you had to go with this video. Proving what I have always suspected: one sick puppy. (and i mean that in the nicest possible way) I'm more into serene lately: http://pinkmartini.com/audio/index.html

As boring, exciting, that I am.... It's KDKA radio all work day. Gave up on "music" long after it became a pre-packaged deal. http://www.kdkaradio.com/

Weston, this link worked because there was a question mark within the url link. If there isn't one, then you can append a question mark to the end of the url. Pep (I don't know why it should work, but if it works who cares.)

I checked out sme of these sites and wow! some really old music is being played. Now, I have a seious question - how many times can you actually listen to "Hotel California" wihout imploding? You all sound pretty capable of enjoying a bit of a rave so why not try some more recent tunes? It wouldn't kill ya.
