And they may be right. They've got a lot of users and a mechanism (or two) in place for getting them adult verified. That could be a substantial barrier for somebody just starting up in the virtual worlds biz.

(This is no fanboi sycophancy; the handling of this Adult Content policy is an epic Charlie Foxtrot. But if it works out despite all that, SL may be the only virtual world with adult content in the US--officially blessed, no less--for the foreseeable future. As screw-ups go, that would be quite a coup.)

WHO are you gonna fight, Jumpy? You'd have to seriously rally American folks here in SL to

a) Draft a letter of complaint
b) Sign it and send it to Senators, Representatives, Committee members, ad nauseum.
c) Recruit more residents to do the same.

That's a lot of work. You going to send out mailers? I'm just trying to be practical. Nothing will change unless the grassworks ground level stuff starts happening. LL isn't going to fight for adult content (well it might, just a little) but it's up to the typical American consumer/resident to deal with the government. It sucks, but that's how it's actually designed to work.

Actually, I just thought of something. I'm a member of the Organic Valley co-op and whenever they have an action item, they send us an email, we go to a link, "sign" an online letter, input our ZIP code, and a letter is generated for us, and emailed off to the appropriate senator/representative. You could do something like this. Do it electronically and you might get more SL residents to cooperate.
