All one had to do was see the few names at the last barf bag meeting to know it was just for show and not a real discussion with the residents. So, no real news in this thread.

You're an IMITATION Jumpy. I refuse to believe Jumpy's a despicable prevaricator who would post after a post like this...

Welcome back, Jumpy! :)

A lot more than four attended Jack's office hour yesterday (and probably Blondin's, whenever that was and/or will be).

More is not necessarily better.

It almost doesn't matter, however, how many attend, or whose views get aired. It's all rather like teaching quantum mechanics to a beagle: they're eager to listen and they may appear to understand, but they don't do well on the exams.

Hey c'mon. Give Jumpy a break. I can actually understand what he's talking about for a change and, uh it IS a valid point.

Given the exchanges in the last Brown Bag meeting, it doesn't seem like it would have mattered if there were four, fourteen, or forty people there.

So, yeh, if the only people at the adult business Brown Bag were Stroker and people Stroker invited, that's a problem, but it's a symptom... not the real problem.

If Linden Lab is crafting and implementing their policy in such a way to benefit a select few adult merchants to the detriment of the rest, it's not just a problem, it's a huge legal liability problem to Linden Lab.

You got a point there, but it's still a symptom. I think that if they were doing that they'd have been having to be in talks with them a lot earlier than the Brown Bag.

Well, any of us who've been here long enough to have seen LL dump new land on the market till there were no takers, or start charging VAT when they never had before, or outlaw banks and casinos, or drop of bring in features or policy changes like they're rolling dice, or release a land product and then change the features and pricing of that product already KNOWS that any "discussion" translates as "We're going to do this. You get to complain about it for a few weeks or months before we finally drop the other shoe."

Stroker didn't invite me. :-)

If only 4 residents are at a brown Bag meeting organized by the Lindens to elicit opinions from their user base - I believe that said Linden should contact the Mentor group and get as many residents to the meeting as they possibly can. The supervisor of the Linden in charge of these meetings would tell the employee that they did not reach the goal of these meetings if just 4 residents attended - if this supervisor was efficient or cared. That is, if the actual goal of these meetings is to work with a good cross-section of residents to plan the future of SL.

When has that ever been the goal of anything that the Lindens have done or will do in the future.

Perhaps the low attendance just sends the message that no one believes that participation will make a difference?

Possibly. All you have to do is look at a few of the more popular issues on the JIRA to see the typical Linden response. The adult changes, the megainvisiprim thing, the whole Openspace debacle, and who knows how many other things the residents feel is important, they all get the same corporate-speak and childish "nope, not gonna do it" rebuttals. In fact, a few folks I know are taking the same stand I decided to, in not really trying to set LL straight, just letting them know that we're still here and waiting to say "I told you so", so to speak. :D

ok screw it i AM back lmao. my understanding is that the brown bags are over. that they were held at the ungodly hour of 9am slt. that to get any kinda quorum Stroke had to finagle invites to the brown bag meetings for some of his associates, there were more than 4 at most but never more than ten, and half the questions were simply ignored. All I know is some members of Linden Lab tarded around in front of congress, now congress KNOWS about LL and Second Life and is HOT to regulate them for things that simply do not exist in SL. (i mean wtf is a rape room lmao, hehehe sould i get one?).

Instead of fightin (fix the economy turd ball congress would be MY first broadside lmao). They cave. Instead of being straight with US their user base, they use weasel words and shifty policies ("debates" with no debaters, "Q and A's" with no answers). If the point is to make these moves popular or at least palitable then a straight announcement to residents
like : Congress is trying to regulate Second Life out of existence unless we make a few changes would have worked.

The underhanded way LL is handling it seems sneaky and like actual lying and out right evasion. Come on to make user experience predictable. Let's get this right, making adult content harder to access in virtual worlds IS a good thing even the right thing if Congress wants to CENSOR (the censors hehehehe lmao) our lil virtual world or the internet in general. But it all reveal the corporate culture of Linden Lab. I'm not even gonna describe it lmao. But i tell ya this. We have take a FIGHTING stance at Slut Mag Inc. Our corporation is tiny and virtual ( but heheheh we gettin moneh I cant evenbelieve it hehehehe).
