Do you also have "Spybot-Search and destroy " installed on your computer? You shouldn't need that if you have Norton. Check in your add-remove programs and uninstall Spybot. Looks like a false positive.

Yeah, that looks like a false-positive. The Voice function runs a sub-program that sometimes gets incorrectly flagged like that. Your spyware detection can be set to exclude that entry as one you tell it is OK to ignore.
When Spybot Search and Destroy makes that popup next time, just check the button indicating "Allow this product to run".
I have Spybot on my Win XP system, with the latest updates and definitions, and that XP system also has SL on it, and SpyBot triggers no alerts for SL. But I also don't use Voice...

Spybot is a keeper. Ditch Norton, and Internet Explorer, and turn off autorun, but keep Spybot.

Spybot is absolutely invaluable if you are on a Windows system. It is one of the best and most comprehensive anti-virus / anti-malware / anti-spyware apps out there, and it is updated more frequently than most paid-for apps. Heck, it nailed and removed the recent "Spyware Protect 2009" trojan/malware on my Win XP system when my Corporate firewall software and Corporate-licensed and daily updated Macafee antivirus said the system was clean! (In spite of pop-ps from the trojan appearing every few seconds on my screen.) Spybot Search and Destroy is also free. Or to be precise, it's donation ware. If you send the developer free-will donations, it helps keep him going.

From: eku Zhong QFT Norton is the worst thing to have. Nah. I'd put them no more than fourth worst after Windows Media Player 9.1, Macafee, and Zone Alarm.

This luddite recommends Spybot as well. I also use Adaware, CCleaner and AVG AntiVirus, free version.I've never had any virusues or serious spyware problems. I strictly use IE.

I'm an Avast free user myself, using it on 3 computers in my home and about 20 across the various extended family computers. It's never let me down

I've never understood the anti-Norton crowd. I really love Norton 360. It does its job very well. That said, it shouldn't be your only means of defense. You should have several layers of "shields", whenever you're securing anything, be it a computer, a castle, or a battleship. In addition to a good antivirus program (and Norton's as good as any), you also want a firewall (again, Norton's as good as any), good spyware protection, and a script blocker for your browser. For spyware, there's no single program that does it all. AdAware and Spybot are two of the best, but neither one is good enough alone. They look for different things. It's important to have both. And of course, just having them isn't the same thing as using them properly. Keep all of them up to date at all times. Run manual scans at least once a week. Keep AdAware's Ad-Watch Live running at all times. Use Spybot's Immunize feature. Run virus scans at least once a week. Keep Windows Auto-Update enabled at all times, and check it regularly to make sure it hasn't been shut down. Often one of the first signs you've been infected is automatic updates stop happening. For script blocking, I recommend No-Script for Firefox. You'll find a link to it on the Firefox add-on page at mozilla.com. And above all, exercise good common sense. Don't open E-mail attachments unless you're absolutely 100% certain beyond the faintest possible shadow of a doubt you know what they are. Don't enable scripts on any Web page unless you know their source can be trusted. Don't go to websites that are obvious virus traps. (No, those promised free pics of Scarlett Johannson blowing a donkey aren't legit.) Don't let Web pages launch executables ever. You probably knew most of that already. Just being thorough.

From: Dnali Anabuki Amen. AVG working very well for me (and of course spybot!) Same here! Now imagine my dismay when I was told for my job, I'd need to install Nortons so I can access the VPN to gain access to the company email and the sites we use to put in our hours & mileage.

From: Rebecca Proudhon Do you also have "Spybot-Search and destroy " installed on your computer? You shouldn't need that if you have Norton. Check in your add-remove programs and uninstall Spybot. Looks like a false positive. No no no... It's a process dialog box that pops up when the Tea Timer (Spybot-SD Resident) detects a process thats trying to run a program or something without your permission. It's asking you to help it decide if this process (slvoice) is something you WANT to run, or if you want it to be blocked from running. Deleting Spybot would be stupid IMO when all you have to do is say "yes" because you know what SL voice is, and allow it to run in the future (bottom check box on the popup)... it will never bother you again about it. There are no false positives with the tea timer as it's not a virus scanner. All it does is monitor the resources that are in use on your computer and alert you when a program tries to run without you actually clicking something. I suspect sl voice was going to be started by the viewer and tea timer caught it... no biggie. To the OP, don't delete Spybot S&D... it asks you what you want it to do when it encounters something new for the first time, that is all. It's a very powerful tool to prevent trojans from infesting your system. If you don't want it to protect your system by catching rogue programs as they try to run without your permission, you can uncheck the "run Tea Timer on startup" checkbox inside Spybot's options.

What you should do is run the Spybot S&D program and scan and clean your computer with that.. I'd bet you'd be suprised what you'll find hiding on there. Most of the time I notice that "real time" virus scanners (like Norton) cause major lag in games. It's because they try to scan through EVERY program file that gets accessed by what your doing, in REAL TIME. If its a big game or program, that usually has the nasty side-effect of slowing things down to a crawl. Sometimes there's an option to turn off, suspend, or snooze those kind of real time scanning functions from inside the virus scanners options, and many times they give you the choice to specify the number of minutes to snooze it for.

From: Chosen Few I've never understood the anti-Norton crowd. Missed major virus/worm/torjan horse infections and was a huge resource hog in the past. They may have improved the program recently, but first impressions can't be changed, so most of us avoid them at all costs.
