From: Isablan Neva Des, just as an FYI the LL policy on this was changed. They are still honoring those reservations and I just got shot down trying to get one cancelled that's been there (unused) since Nov of 2006. I'm blocked in and was told I was SOL. A clear case of griefing may be different. They are working on a new land store; it is going to be interesting to see what happens. Will they start charging monthly for those reservations again? Heh, some of mine were carpeted over by existing Caledon regions long ago. citation: http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/03/07/announcing-changes-to-the-openspace-product/#more-1712 I'd call back - I love the concierge team, but this doesn't sound quite right.

I thought they automatically expired after 12 months unless you built there or renewed them. Comment: You can have your entire estate moved for free if you're surrounded in a way that prohibits expansion. Even if you have a bunch of islands. (I don't know if they've fixed the problem where Picks break after island moves... that would be an issue for a lot of people.)

No- it's actually FREE- no expense- if it truly is a case where your estate can't expand. They will move your whole, multi-island estate at no cost. The island move fee exists to minimize the administrative work of shuffling islands around, and presumably to maintain some consistency on the grid; it's not just arbitrary nickel-and-diming. If you're trapped, however, that could mean that you're not going to buy anymore islands, so they will help find a place that offers more breathing room.

Yes, they will move me for free since I am boxed in ...but I don't want to move. I will take Desmon's suggestion to try a little more - it seems stupid that they continue to hold a reservation that is 16 months old at this point. They did offer to allow me to expand into the "forbidden zone" but I would still rather have the spot next to the existing sim.

From: Hiro Queso Can I be the one to tell this person how much his reservations are worth? Pwease? First I'd lead him on for awhile, let him think you are seriously considering buying his reservations and working on raising the money, which could come in any day now, ohhh one more snag delayed it again, and again, and ohh no another problem, but I'm sure I will have the money soon.... yada, yada, yada....

From: Jake Ansett Whats the "forbidden" zone? I believe it's the area marked in red that says you can't order or reserve SIM's here

From: Jackson Rickenbacker funy when I started building in Dec 06, there was no one around even close, now I have not a single spot around my sims the land store will allow me to place Thats what happens. When we started our estate i was in a nice wide open spot that offered for plenty of future expansion - then people started lopping individual sims down all around us... We're contemplating moving again, but the same thing will just happen in the next place. Call me goofy but i get attached to where I am on the grid, and get to know some of the estates around me, and have even made fiends with "neighbors" - I hate moving lol.

From: Isablan Neva Yes, it is. So how does one get there? And does this area protect estates from being blocked? I thought this was the area that they were going to move sims out of in the near future (for whatever reason)

From: Jackson Rickenbacker Sadly I have 13 sims there, and he is surrrounding me with reservations, I thought LL was going to do away with them clearly they have more use as tools of extortion than legitimate placeholders for future sims.. if you aint got the money to buy the sim, you shouldnt be allowed to own rights to the gridspace Jackson call the Concierge line and negotiate a group price for a move, I paid $500 to move 9 sims recently and it took LL about 1 hour to do it. I don't see why they couldn't move your 13 for the same price or even less. The one time I heard of a larger move they charged $150 per hour for the mass move so they made a big profit on my 9 sim move. BTW I was adding 8 more sims for the move and all 17 were moved and online in about 1 hour so don't let them charge more than $500.

I thought this was the area that they were going to move sims out of in the near future (for whatever reason) If you look on the Land Store map, there are areas that block island placement too close to the mainland continents. Those areas have big red bars across them and you aren't allowed to choose a location there. This does not prevent estates from being blocked, it merely prevents estates from getting too close to the mainland (and thus blocking mainland expansion?) They may be booting the sims that were placed in this area before the zone went into effect, who knows at this point. I just called it the "Forbidden Zone" as a play on the old Planet of the Apes movies.

From: Jackson Rickenbacker I recieved this message from a nearby reservation space owner
[10:57] xxxx xxxx: Good afternoon Jackson, I own the reservation spaces around your sim group, I notice that you are blocked in and cannot grow anymore. I will offer to sell you 1 of these spaces for 500 USD plus paypal fees or, 2 spaces for 900 USD and paypal fees or all 3 spaces around your sims to the NW, W and SE for 1300 USD and I'll pay the PP fee's...Get back with me if you want to continue to grow
I simply cannot believe that this joker is trying to extort me into paying that amount of money for reseration fees...
Anyone else had slimeball offers like this? If you don't want the land, don't buy it - it's that simple. All property is worth what someone is willing to pay, as a wise man once said.

Better yet, send him a fake cashier's check for twice the money he wants, then tell him that you need him to wire you the difference so that you can pay the excise tax and transfer fees and pay to ship the reservations to your location. Tell him the King of Nigeria is a close personal friend and he can vouch for you as his financial manager. When he wires you the dough, tell him it didn't get to you and he needs to wire it again. Repeat until he runs out of money.
