Voice....Anyone using it?

I use voice every day, but only with my friends, and mostly in private calls. I love it! The open chat is fun to eavesdrop on too, hearing all sorts of foreign languages and random conversations while I'm out shopping. If I'm at a club listening to music with friends, we don't use it, or if one friend is not on voice, we will usually abstain also.

I really don't get what's with the naysayers. Voice is a great addition to SL. It enriches and strenghens my friendships and interactions every day.

I love it and use it quite frequently :) Very glad they implemented voice.

Nope, and so far not interested in trying.

I dislike that fact that should someone grief via voice, the record of it is not currently capturable by the client and thus not presentable to LL.

On the same note, if you were to hear something that you want to check out later, you have to write it down, since there isn't a log you can review again later. Even if you could "record" the conversations within the client and could play them back for later review, searching text for a keyword is so much faster than trying to find something in a recording.

I don't use it at all yet but I might. Just have not got around to it. I have noticed though when I did have it activated it lagged me all to hell.

I was at a meeting last night where voice was used. Mostly, the main speaker used it; a few attendees asked voice questions, but most were typed.

Aside from situations like that, I haven't used it much.

Nope. I don't even have a voice client installed.

Unless you're using a Linux client, you've hacked 1.18.0.6 so that it doesn't fail the version number check, or you have one of Nicholaz Beresford's Old School clients installed, you DO have a voice client. Doesn't mean you've ever enabled voice, though.

I've used it a couple of times but I've had the optoin turned off for several weeks now and nobody even asks why. Since I can't see their white dot I just assume they have it turned off too. Parcel and sim crossings are a bitch with it on. Sim crossings are bad enough without adding to the problem.

And voice gets my vote for one of the top 5 stupidest ideas from LL.

I use it when it's just me and the business partner working alone.
It's fun to have music and quick questions.

Use it as a regular form of communication? Not I, said the fly.
But I do enjoy having the option.

Looks like this is yet another "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY'D DO THAT" problem that just... went away.

Nope. Used it once to try out, didn't like the effect and can't see that I ever will go back there.

Quite often I even mute the whole client (convenient button on the Laptop I'm using when in-world), esp. when I don't like the spatial music on the parcel I'm currently on.

99% of my SL time is not using voice at this time. And when I do, its a planned voice call.

Most of the people I interact with do not speak English. Now that I think about it, whenever I come upon avatars using voice, most of the time they are not English speaking. At least that has been my experience so far.

Nope ... tried a voicechanger though which was pretty hilarious. Being a "man", a "male squirrel" or a "robot" is certainly fun but unusable in everyday (second) life. I'm thinking about going for the "language exchange" program though which is probably one of the few occasions where using voice actually will make sense. I plan on masking my voice a little bit though, just to keep more privacy.

It took me a while to get my sound card working with it, my SL BF got really angry with me over that fact I didn't use it...
We broke up and I have not ever tried again to use it. ; (

I did enjoy hearing his voice though he did use it... but most of the time I lost the audio. So whatever. Not a fan anyway.

Nope, don't use it.

Within our social circle there is only one person who uses it regularily and wants to use it, and he finds that he has to go to Ahern or other Welcome Centres to find someome to talk to.

I tried it. Got fed up of the idiots who open their mic and play 'music' down it, or who make monkey noises for hours, or swear and talk like kids, or make abusive comments, or scream, or drum things............

Nope, and so far the only people who've asked me to use it have been smarmy guys who've just finished laying down some of the lamest pick-up lines in the universe.

I did try voice but it seemed that people either didn't hear me or that my messages were so broken up they were unintelligible. But when I had voice on I did listen in to some good conversations, and even participated through type-chat.

The voice feature has been fairly quiet in the forums lately. I don't use it myself and as far as I know, none of my friends do either.

I don't know how to do it myself, but I think someone should start a poll. Anyone agree? :)

Using it on a limited basis:

In personal IM

At a small group discussion (5 people)

I have not turned it on in music venues or in large groups of people

(And it's easy to use...IM in game if you need help with this. :) )

90% Non-Voice

From the answers here, voice is a non-issue. At this point, approximately 37 no, and 4 yes. Amazing! lol! :)

A no from me as well.

It causes a somewhat higher rate of crashing for me...
Without voice? I crash once or twice a week at most...
With voice? Hard pressed for 15 minutes of crash free SL...
