Hey folks,

So I have noticed in my two years here in SL... that on occassion I purchase an outfit and when I wear the top, the top does not cover my nipples all the way.

My nipples are not large by any means, they are "normal/average" as far as SL goes. It also does not matter if I reduce the size of my breasts, change buoancy or change my cleavage. I can never get the top to cover them properly.

And of course, every time this happens, the top is no modify.

I have been all over SL in search of pasties or something of that nature, that would be flesh colored to cover my nipples, so I can wear these purchased outfits. But I have not had any such luck in finding what I'm looking for. Sure I can find all sorts of pasties that are meant for fun, but not to hide the nipple, so to speak.

As I spent a lot of time cleaning up inventory, I came across at least a dozen outfits that I've purchased, but have not worn them because of this problem.

So three questions... am I alone with this issue?

Is there such a product as I mentioned above, out there?

Any other ideas?

I haven't had this problem myself, at least not with any outfits that I didn't expect my nipples to be showing, or plan to layer another item underneath.

The idea of nude pasties is a good one, but you would probably need to get them from the creator of your skin to get a perfect match.

Another option would be to get some nice lingerie and wear that under your tops so that it shows rather than your skin. Strapless bras with a lacy edge in black or white, depending on the outfit, might create a nice effect. Have you tried any combos like that?

I second pretty underwear! Insolence has some sets with topless bras.

Here Here on the tops that dont cover, I have the same problem and my shape isnt large by any means. I have been out alot of money because of this. You are not alone

Lauralynne, I have a ballgown from Blaze (I cannot recall the name of the dress right now) which came with a pair of nipple covers on the undershirt layer...I've used them a lot with other outfits for the very reason you mention.

Only once did I have this problem. Last New Year's Eve party at the Cartel Hangout. was wearing a gorgeous black gown with a lace bodice. Didn't even realize it until I saw the pictures later on. I looked regal, spectacular, stunning and then I looked downward.

Don't know if anybody noticed as the party was going on, and I wasn't there all that long but those pictures live forever on Flickr

I have something I got somewhere (don't recall now) for just this purpose called the modesty bra or something. I've only had this happen with, of all things, one of the T-shirts given out for SL5B. Going in world now and if it is transfer/copy will send one over to you.

Having made clothes and worked with the layers and templates, something on the undershirt layer that matches your skin shade and covers the right spot is the only solution that I can think of.

However, during the PoE hunt (I *think* - somewhere recently, anyway) she found a skin that was very similar to her original one but looked a lot better in Windlight, and it has nipples placed a little lower, so now she doesn't have to worry about those outfits.

What Nic said here sounds as though it's the OP's problem: the skin, rather than the shape. I know we all grow very attached to our particular favourite skins, but try on one of those nipple-revealing tops with your usual skin, and then try the same top with several other skins. Odds-on it's the skin that's the problem and not your shape.

If you can find what the ladies in this thread have suggested, then great. Otherwise it might be worth your while contacting the designer of your skin and asking if they will customise your skin for you, placing the nipples just a little bit lower. It's very likely that they would want to know if this unintentional revealing is an issue with their skins (or that particular line of their skins) so they can correct it. Something like that could have quite an impact on a designer's sales if it became known through word of mouth ("so and so's skins never work well with my tops...", etc).

In my case I never had this problem with any outfit, including white tops UNTIL I got one of the SL5B T-shirts. My avatar has very fair skin with equally fair *ahem* "assets." The shirt was a dark orange. For some weirdo reason, my nipples showed right through that top EVEN wearing my usual bra!

Again, I have no clue where I got the modesty bra and it looks lighter than my bras, but it did the trick!

(Not saying there aren't other reasons...but in my case, that was what worked.)

Sounds to me like it would depend a lot on the skin you're wearing. I've got some really "daring" necklines on several of my outfits, but rarely do I end up with my nipples playing peek-a-boo! My main Human skins are from Second Skin Labs. I'll have to look with some of my less-frequently used Human skins... Aside from my SSL custom one, I hardly ever use the others any more. I wear my SSL skin if I am Human, a Robin Sojurner skin for my kid Humans, or furry forms, most of the time.

I do like the idea of a "modesty bra", or of just choosing lingere that shows an attractive lacy edge that covers as needed.

I've never had this particular problem, but you could always IM the skin creator and ask if they could make you pasties. I'm sure all their work is on layers, and they'd just have to turn off the nip layers and create a pastie alpha channel. Probably take them about 5 minutes. Never hurts to ask.

The only time that I have had the problem was when I could wear some other garment on the undershirt layer that was in a contrasting or complimentary color. But this is not always possible, particularly when wearing a gown that is supposed to cover the breast but be lower on the sides and back. The pasties, shown in the Onrez link earlier, are probably the best option then.

But it could be worse. I saw a picture of a woman wearing a gown in a rather formal situation (can't remember exactly what). She was being hugged and her breast became exposed with her nipple very visible in the picture and to everyone watching. (Interesting looks on some of the men's faces!)

ive had a similar problem with the ummmm bottom front area showing above pants etc....never thought about it being the skin lol

I reckon you could whip up a couple of nip-covers to go on the undershirt layer quite easily, and if they were mod, make them match your skin in appearance mode? Heck I'd like one for the groinal region, as some bathers cut it quite fine. (it's that or faux black pubes running halfway down your thighs...damned one-pixel-groin mesh)

I've got some really "daring" necklines on several of my outfits, but rarely do I end up with my nipples playing peek-a-boo! My main Human skins are from Second Skin Labs. I'll have to look with some of my less-frequently used Human skins... Aside from my SSL custom one, I hardly ever use the others any more. I wear my SSL skin if I am Human, a Robin Sojurner skin for my kid Humans, or furry forms, most of the time. I'm sure all their work is on layers, and they'd just have to turn off the nip layers and create a pastie alpha channel. Probably take them about 5 minutes. But this is not always possible, particularly when wearing a gown that is supposed to cover the breast but be lower on the sides and back. The pasties, shown in the Onrez link earlier, are probably the best option then. But it could be worse. I saw a picture of a woman wearing a gown in a rather formal situation (can't remember exactly what). She was being hugged and her breast became exposed with her nipple very visible in the picture and to everyone watching. (Interesting looks on some of the men's faces!)

Heck I'd like one for the groinal region, as some bathers cut it quite fine. (it's that or faux black pubes running halfway down your thighs...damned one-pixel-groin mesh)
