When I had Norton I had to manually fix the listing in "trusted sites" for SL every time it upgraded. I don't know if it's still that way, but that's an example of how something the "same as it has always been" can cast a little bad juju of its own.

Maybe I just took it the wrong way... or maybe I'm just in a bad mood because I'm at work. ![]() I dunno, it seemed kind of sassy to me too. For myself, when I can't log in, I just choose to log in to home. One of the first things I did on returning to SL was to find a mature infohub and set it to home - so that no matter where I was before or whatever my state of dress, nobody'd be able to complain all that much if I suddenly popped in for a few mins. - Still need to refine it a bit. I'm thinking of looking for a mostly unused infohub - a deadzone, and making that my home. So that it can be a spot to pop into where I don't have to worry about lag keeping me out. Once the adult continent opens, I'll be looking for a home over there. Even if I wasn't up to anything, it'd be a good idea. After all, never know when you might get zapped while in a changeroom (which has happened to me). |

Even after years here, it still amazes me how varied our experiences can be. I'm wondering what things I might be unaware of that are business as usual to other people. When i found out about dragging a texture on to an object to apply it, I was amazed... this after nearly four years here- of course, I was promptly made fun of too ![]() _____________________

You have to have some sort of connection to the Internet. That's usually through done through a modem in or attached to your computer, or a router, somewhere in your house. Are you connecting wirelessly? I have a LAN which SL has also worked on for the past 2 years. |

Have you tried logging in recently and if that fails, what is the error code? There wasn't one. It just said that either the servers were failing or I had no internet connection. I am communicating with you now via telepathy. My internet connection has been exactly the same all year. No change whatsoever. |

Perhaps you could provide a screenshot of the message displayed when the problem occurs.
System specs rarely make problems harder for people to solve. The more forthcoming you are with potentially relevant information the greater the chance that someone will recognize the problem or find a suggestion by searching for keywords from your post with a search engine. Do you have Windows Up date set to automatic up dates? _____________________

My internet connection has been exactly the same all year. No change whatsoever. Do you have a tracing program available like MacFee visual trace? Have you tried downloading the Release Candidate and installing that to log in with? Are you on a computer that is shared by others? Maybe your anti-virus program has blocked access? Are you logging into the Agni server? Download the newest viewer and give that a try ![]() _____________________

I haven't changed any part of my computer whatsoever. It is exactly the same as it was the last time I logged into SL.

Do you have an alt account? If so, try to log in on that one.

You could provide system information, if you want people to be able to try figure out the problem.
You could try filing a support ticket. Can't hurt to try. _____________________

Exact same amount of fail. Then I think you can rule out account problems. Would be bizarre if they were both frozen inworld. _____________________

Have you tried a 3rd party viewer, like the Cool Viewer?
Also try a complete delete all the SL folders or reinstall SL into completely new folders. It's possible also Windows did an automatic update of something in your system too. Basically if a hundred people were having your problem SL might have to look aharder at the viewer, but otherwise they aren'y going to try to modify the viewer specifically to run on your PC. It;s also possible you've had some sort of memory failure that only shows when you push the graphics hard as SL does, can you still run any other graphics intensive games ok? _____________________

Every other game I have works fine. And I play far more than just Space Invaders on this. |

There have been reports that the posting of system information sometimes precedes the posting of solutions to problems.

Okay, seriously... Have you actually checked your firewall settings? Or are you just going on the assumption that they're okay because "you haven't touched it"?
You mentioned being on a LAN, but hadn't the foggiest notion of a router or modem, which leads me to believe you are on a university or corporate LAN of some kind. Is it possible that your network administrators have blocked the ports SL needs in order to connect to its login server? _____________________
