http://thebestofsecondlife.blogspot.com/ is a good spot to check now and then for unusual places. There's an in-world group for it too, info at the top of that page.

They're encouraging (although not requiring) roleplaying now, so if you have any quirky circus-y clothes, you might want to wear them. :)

Circus clothes!!! oh, this is getting better and better :D thank you for the head's up.

One of my favs is the Asian sims, the modern? ones.
They have great creators, have all this random stuff to see, play w/ buy.

Can you shoot me some LM for those? We loved the Kwonloon sim - what an amazing place and the lag situation was darn fine for such a highly detailed place. Not entirely sure what's up with the pandas that you can ride around, but we sure had fun :)

I like Soap and Koreshan.
Silent is nice for a shopping place.

One of the ideas that we have been toying with recently is to create some sort of "common interest referral network". We run a traditional asian-themed sim and have the idea that if we can find other similarly-themed sims, we can provide little sign-posts for them, so that people that have visited one can have some other places to go.

The hope is to provide some sort of small-scale alternative to search, in that if we as a group have found places we like, we can help others find them too.

If I can get Strife to make a thread of mine a sticky, I promise to update the first post (The Big List) if places disappear, or if other people find new places. It's been done down in the Texturing Hints forum...
I would love to see this as a sticky. Stickies aren't locked from being updated, so people could edit their own posts as things change or add updates about stuff. I just get tired of doing a search and re-merging all of the lists and posts back into a single one, editing out the duplicates, and on and on again every time I want to go grab some new places to explore. A single thread, that was simply added to and/or edited would at least simplify the process a bit.

Purely commercial, but certainly weird and wonderful, is Yeti Bing's shop. Odd cartoony architecture, and even odder avatars & pets for sale.

Does that mean clowns? Oh dear. As much as I love spooky, clowns are just too much. They scare the crap out of me.

I haven't actually since they started doing RP, so I don't know. I believe they have a Flickr page, but they have that site blocked where I work.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I've often wondered why there is not a "Best places to visit" thing at the Entrance....of course then people would pay to have their link at the top and it would be worthless.

I am not certain what my "home" welcome location was when I left OI, but it had a list of "places to visit" put together by Pathfinder Linden. That was long ago in the beginning of time, and the list was out of date even then.

Carnival of Doom, ffs! Why do people always mention Greenies, but not the Carnival?

That's what I was thinking! Both are awesome, but you can't mention one without the other. Pffffft.

Ann, your pics are GREAT! I went last night, and had a blast. That is, of course, until I died and went to that Beetlejuice waiting room. :D
