I'd check the door to my office.. if it had the chainmail cat-o-nine tails, I would know I am in FL.. if it didn't, then I would know I am in SL.

Pretty much continue on as I always do. :)

I would just adapt.

I don't really do anything that I would need to hide from them, so no big deal.

I think the challenge for some would be the choices they have made in SL based on the level of anonymity available in SL.

I was surprised at the level of anonymity in SL when I first got here.
It is fantastic for some who are seeking to escape the usual constraints of thier lives.
For me it has been pretty much a non issue as 90% of my activity has been about learning and creating.

On the subject of anonymity however it is wise to maintain a certain level of it due to the unfortunate fact that there are those who will use the RL info they may gain about another to harass or exploit them.

Its not hiding from, it is gettin gaway from. You have hasssles evryday in you rlife and your biggest headaches come from family members. It is nice to have a place to run to to escape this... Your family members woudl demand you time, no alone time, and regardless if you are doing anything to be ashamed of or not having a family member around can be fun, however eventually it will be time for them to leave. You understand?
Has nothing to do with hiding..

maybe thats just me though...

Exactly. It's not hiding anything, more of a case of not exposing people to things they just may not understand or approve of. I use SlLas a place to experiment and expand horizons on a variety of things, not all of them may be suitable to all people. Even in RL, I don't tell everyone everything I do, we all have private and personal things we enjoy. The self righteous and judgemental "What do you have to hide?" line in SL is getting tiresome.

Find new hangout. Or move to OpenSim.

Shoot each of them with the Griefer-B-Gone gun and be done with it.

My first ever SL forums post as Phoenix.....

Became really good friends with Sydney Jacobs, the first to answer that post.

My second instinct would be NOT to logout, incase I was actually logging out of RL and I couldn't get back in :)

There's all sorts of variations of this idea to ponder.

You log in to SL, feeling sociable, so you head to a place you expect to find crowded.

It's crowded, but not with the usual crowd. Instead, it's all avatars of people you know that have died, with their former names over their heads, and the avatars are sort of shimmering and floating about, and overlapping sounds of anguished moaning are coming from the crowd.

====

Or, you show up at your favorite hotspot, and the normal gang is replaced by men and women in business clothing. Some of the names look familiar, some not... then it dawns on you. It's all people from your national legislative body! Aighhh!

Uhm. Think: Dark Angel - Season 2.

Might not be much fun.

But i guess having your inventory makes most people the equivalent of Gods in RL depending on what goodies they have.

I was so dissapointed there was no season 3 :/
