Hi, Lisette In this situation, it is on a mainland plot that I own. I made a group so that I could include my partner and my alts (to be able to set home and have land powers if needed if "they" were on instead of "me.) The item in question, though was owned by me (my main). The weird thing is, I have 3 of these storage trunks and only one of them poofed. *Think I'll go take a nap* Thank you all so much for your kind words and suggestions. They are deeply appreciated. From: Lisette Koolhoven Curious...are the items you lost owned by your alts?
Last night, while shopping for a new home, I read a notecard for one property that mentioned that the sim owners scan the sim daily for items not owned by Group members/renters and will return/remove all random prims in and on their properties.
The sim owner was requesting that, once you rent, to please give them the names of all your alts, so they don't remove your stuff.
I know that you can't usually rez stuff if you are not a Group member; but maybe your alt was mistakenly ejected/removed from the Group???
Just a thought...
-Lisette

I had this happen to me once, I had plenty of spare prims. Two couches and a few other bits and pieces disappeared. About 3 weeks later, I had relocated to another rental property and a week after I moved in, I arrived to find the missing pieces scattered around the new house........it was very weird

Sorry for your Loss...

I've asked for and received sim rollbacks and I dont own a whole sim either. They always did this fairly quickly after my asking, and it usually helped. I wish you luck, and pray for you and yours. TC!

Hey girlie...so sorry about your loss! RL can sometimes be a bitch.
About your trunk....if you find it, will you see if my expensive red gown is in there? Oh, and my former self (a very expensive skin and shape, um...and eyes). You see, SL has taken not only my stuff, but ME! WHILE I WAS IN MY OWN SKIN! I ruthed...and well, it never got better...EVER...I went to search for me in my inventory...and I was GONE! I had to rebuild me from scratch. So...if you see me...tell me I am looking for me. And if I should return before I get back, please ask me to leave a message.

Ignore my PM, Shalya - I contacted Live Chat a bit ago and was told that LL does not do sim rollbacks on mainland because it would affect others who live there as well. (Errrmmm, wouldn't that do the same on estate land?) Anyway, had a nice chat with the LL Live Chat rep who suggested basically everything I've already done. She *did* say that "normally" storing items in an in-world container as I did is a very good idea, especially if one has a "massive" (her words) inventory. I asked what causes items to just "poof" in world because if there was anything preventative I could do, I certainly would. The rep said "many things can cause that" but didn't elaborate. Oh well...in the scheme of things...it was just pixels.

-Blu- (scratching her head) Thank you for your kind thoughts Blu. Now YOUR story is truly unique - your own "self" just taken from you WHILE wearing it?!?! That's just sooo wrong!!! Did you contact LL? Would love to hear their commentary on that one! If I find my trunk...for sure I'll search through it for you *grins*

Yeah...it was actually awhile ago. I never contacted LL cuz...well...I ain't premium. So...I just grinned and bared it...lol. It was quite a shock to Duane who was cuddling with me at the time. His first question was..WHAT DID YOU DO? lol..I told him nothing...this was all SL's doing...but it did cost me quite an expensive identity, if you will. Who you see now, is nothing like I looked earlier this year! Ah well, live and learn. How are you doing hon?

But I do own mainland, and they did a rollback...
09-05-2008 16:37
it was some time ago...but they did. And, I asked them to check scripts as the sim was very laggy and they returned to owner some that were in error or something. Of course the owner has them back out, they are temp rez boxes she uses on everything...so the sim is back to laggy. But yes, I did a ticket requested a rollback and they did it.

-Blu- (FRIDAY, AT LAST!) This story is priceless! ESPECIALLY while cuddling. But I am really sorry you lost all those pieces of yourself. I think for many of us the appearance, thus the impression one gives to those who see it, of our avatars is one of, if not the most, of our priceless possessions in SL. As for being basic and not contacting LL, thus far I've submitted 3 support tickets re: rezzed inventory poofing (haven't heard back from the most recent one and the other two kept telling me the steps to go through to recover items IN INVENTORY. I tried to explain these were not inventory items, but got the same canned response and then they were closed with RESOLVED), one call to Live Chat where the LL rep. told me he would "love to help me but their computers were down" another one where I got a message on the screen that "no operators were available, please try another time" and then yesterday I got through to live chat and was told that mainland sim rollbacks were not done. I want to talk to the rep Shayla did. As for how I'm doing...thank you so much for asking. Numb and either sleeping a lot or when I'm up, like now, using "good drugs" (prescribed folks, nothing illegal) - Xanax to be specific which allows me to function somewhat but in "dull mode." (Sidenote: I have professional experience working with Hospice. I had been kicking around the idea of offering some classes - informational types - on something like "The Stages of Grief." Now I really think I will put something together soon as with all the people in SL there must be many people going through grief at any given time.)

Of course the owner has them back out, they are temp rez boxes she uses on everything...so the sim is back to laggy. But yes, I did a ticket requested a rollback and they did it. I really am starting to think the rep on gets at LL has a large bearing on what gets done. Example: "Another" one of my jobs (I think I've done everything in my life...lol) was for a large insurance company in the Workers Compensation division. Oye! We handled 10 states and the regulations were different per state. In my job I fielded class from injured employees, employers, doctors offices, and attorneys - and most were not happy due to the circumstances. I'm extremely perfectionistic and will explore every possible avenue and made SURE I am giving the correct answer per whatever state regulation applied. (We were "graded" on number of calls we took, amount of paperwork we produced and the accuracy of it all. A real juggling act.) I heard one of my co-workers in the cubicle next to me give an answer to a client once and asked "Where did you find that info" and was horrified to hear him say "I just made it up, but I have the highest number of phone calls taken." Life in Corporate America.

Ah honey, I am well versed in the stages of grief, having lost both my mom when I was 12 and my dad, as an adult. It doesn't get easier, but it is a part of life we have to go through at some point. We are here for ya. XOXOXOX
