I can't think of a job on the main grid suitable for a teen character. You could start your own business, though.

For example, Marianne makes a good income putting on her fireworks shows. And she's only six! She's been talking about starting up blimp tours, too...although I don't know if she plans to charge for them. Maybe she needs a copilot. Or a flight attendant.

Much what Dilbert said.

On the plus side, you weren't booted from the Main Grid. They can sometimes be "twitchy" about teen RP. :-/

Perhaps try some of the malls or modeling?

You have to be careful to separate your real age from your roleplaying age. Not everyone in SL roleplays (I'd say, in fact, that the majority do not) so you need to be overly cautious. Put some kind of disclaimer on the ad stating that you are an adult roleplaying a teen. It's stupid, but that's how it is.

Yep, they removed the ad because you stated that you are a RP teen, which of course set the "ZOMG!11 Savz teh CHildrenz!111!" crowd into flame mode.

Honestly, you're better off just starting your own business. Or hitting the places that have teen RP.

You pretty much _can't_ play a teen in SL. There just isn't enough scope to make a character that looks 14-15, but not 18 and not 12 - at least, I've never seen it managed.
On the original topic - you mustn't claim to be a child in your profile, although you can say that you role-play one.

I saw that thread and, to be honest, only read it quickly and came away with the impression that you were a RL teen. It wasn't until after I had read some of the replies that I went back and read your post more carefully that I saw what you were saying.

Nope, there's nothing wrong with _playing_ a teenager in SL, or even a pre-teen, as long as you keep away from the adult stuff.

/me bets somebody else saw the thread, also only read it quickly and AR'ed it. Some mod probably also didn't read it well and moved it to a mod-only forum or just deleted it.

Could you clarify what you mean, please? I couldn't judge about girls, but I've seen my share of avs that look like boys 14-15. Sometimes it's just facial hair that makes the distinction, something that's easily fixed (most skins have clean-shaven variations). Mostly it's height (also easily fixed), and clothing style. If anything, I think it's harder to do an 11-12 year old boy.

There are a handful of clubs that are popular among teen characters, and for which it's perfectly possible to work with a teen av. Not as dancers, but as hosts or DJs. I have no idea how the pay compares, though.

I also know some teens who manage land. There are certainly stores that specialize in kids clothing, though I don't know whether they use in-store hosts.

After my little AR event, I quit asserting an age altogether. (>_<;)

I mean... Tell people I'm 10 and I'm expected to play kickball in pink babydoll gowns. Tell people I'm over 18 and they hear "Make sexies now!". (>_<;)

From now on.. I'll be "Big", "Small", "Undead", or "Digital". Heh... And maybe a combination of the few. (=_=)y

Same here, not for an AR, but for an implication that I might get one. Sad part was, I was minding my own business, fully dressed in conservative clothes and in a PG sim, riding my horse.

Now I'm just an "age unknown" along with the majority of the remaining folks in SL.

Oh, and yeah, you can make a (female) avatar look to be in the mid-teens age bracket. IM me in-world anytime I'm online and I'll show ya. :-)

Agreed, my alt Trix is a teen girl and i think teens of the age of 14-15 are definitely able to be made.

I worked in a club when I was 16. Maybe you should just take what you can get. Beggars can't be choosers.

Anyway, just as an aside - if you give a girl a name like Charisma, she will inevitably end up as a stripper or a porn star. Particularly if you alliterate her first and second names. Parents, keep this in mind when naming your children.

Back to OP. You said you were a teen. You didnt say your avatar or persona was a teen. That makes all the difference. You gave them the impression you were a teen in any avatar.

I was just going to post something like that.
I was wondering if OP means a child teen of under 18, or adult teen of 18 or 19.
If a under 18 teen I not happy with it personally of being in adult SL.

It sounds like you are already doing pretty well at rping a teenager, not communicating well, being grounded and then whinging that "it's not fair" . . .

True, but, what's the virtual/RP age of consent in SL? 18 or 21 or 9' tall amazon? =^-^=

to get a good young teen face, you can buy a baby avatar skin and use it on an (everything else) adult type avatar, and the avatar will look like it's 12-15.
