I'm finished with all the setup and registration. And I used PayPal to put $USD into my SL Ex account. Then I put in a request to buy $L at the best immediate price and send it to my avatar's account. I confirmed the request. Then I checked the status of the order and it tells me that the order has been filled.
HOWEVER, it's been two hours since the order was filled and when I log into the SL website and look at my account, I'm still not showing an increase in the $L in my account. I must have missed some step, I'm thinkin. How does the money get from SL Ex to SL and into my account there? How long should I expect it to take?

Yes, it sounds like you missed a step. You should now show a $L balance in your SLX account. As Oryx says, either click Withdraw (while you are also logged in to Second Life and NOT in Busy Mode)...or take your avatar to the nearest SLX ATM in Second Life and withdraw funds from there.
