If you have an appreciation for food objects in world, specifically interactive food objects, and if you had a desire to provide decorative and interactive food objects for party and/or get-together guests, would you prefer:
A) An object that offers inventory when touched, which the guest would then have to wear/attach in order to use eating animations, with the object's inventory (i.e a bowl of pickled eggs) appearing to be depleted? -or-
B) An object with minimalist interactivity, which does not offer inventory, but which merely states on chat what the guest has "chosen" and also appears to deplete inventory?
In either case the objects apparent inventory would replenish after a specific period of time.
I am curious about how the intrusion of the technical aspects of object interactivity into role playing or just world immersion are tolerated.

I think food objects and animations are adorable. (I offer a wide range of drinks in my cafe for just this reason.) I would definitely prefer something that gives an item to the avatar to wear, especially an item with an eating or drinking animation in it.
I think the added idea of having the source appear to deplete as people take items from it is very nice, I'm not sure I've seen that before.

Both would be nice. If there is a smorgasbord of choices, we can't start wearing everything... Pickled eggs, beer, sushi, etc. You would have to keep switching things.

I like them, to wear as an accessory (i.e. standing around with a hot cup of coffee while chatting).
The trouble with attachable items is that you tend to end up pouring coffee on your head or sticking a popsicle in your eye because the item isn't where the designer intended it to be.
So I'd rather just stand there with a cup, plate, candy floss in my hand than bringing it up to my face.

I have had a cup of coffee that I held firmly within my femur (do I have a femur?) because it didn't get along with the sit pose I was in. So yeah, standing for me too.

I prefer my food to STFU, frankly. If I'm enjoying my slice of durian, I'll say so myself, thank you very much. It's nice, though, if it is visible and animates when attached. But, a suggestion: something I've found less disruptive to ongoing chat is to avoid the trip to Inventory altogether. Instead, have the object for sale as original for L$0. Then, when a CHANGED_OWNER event is posted to the object, have it report the purchase to its rezzer (so it can be replenished), request PERMISSION_ATTACH of its new owner, and start a timer to die if it's not attached in some reasonable amount of time. That way, the recipient doesn't have to rummage through their Objects folder to find and attach the food. One caveat: I've recently discovered ( http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-1765) that this doesn't work well with objects that emit or are the targets of particles. (Well... unless the object is attached near the crotch, which is where the particles will go, regardless of where the object is attached.)

From: Ivanova Shostakovich Lovely cafe Madhu. Aw thanks. You might have noticed the land it's on is owned by the "Shostakovich Family" which is my family (my brother and sister-in-law are Yisroel and Batia Shostakovich). You might be our cousin! From: someone /me raises her arms helplessly. "Two hands, five plates of appetizers. What am I to do?"
Clearly the answer is an hors d'oeuvres plate that rezzes perfectly balanced atop the wearer's head.

To the: OP, I typically don't partake of foodstuffs because I find them distracting to the observation and conversations with my fellow AVIs. IMHO "CX"

It could balance atop a drinks hat, the kind you see at sports events with a straw. All my food/beverage desires would be satisfied. Wonder if my elf ears would get in the way.

Personally I like it where you can take say a slice of pizza and eat it. but then it is distracting to have to search in your inventory for that said piece of pizza just to eat it.
Went to one party where the food looked lovely but no take. Been to a few that you could take.
oh oh oh think it would be neat if you had a plate of stuff that you could sit it on a table and eat it. Like you normally would that would be way cool.

B I do this in real life. Popsicles don't hurt nearly as much as shish-kebobs.

I like your shop BTW. This doesn't solve the Hindu-multiple-arms question, but do you think it would be possible to make a scripted food item that comes with an extra arm? Like have an arm that attaches just below the normal SL arm and is holding a drink or a sandwich or something. Then animate it so it brings the item up to the wearer's mouth. When you attach the food item, Bang, third arm. Keeps your hands free for other things like punching people and smoking a cigar.

Mmmaybe they can do the food holding and animate the food/drink to the mouth..whilst they are at it let them aid in the smoking and punching..just an idea

Gee, while we're at it, why not just attach an extra head to do all the chewing. Your long lost twin that was 'growing' inside of you all along. Might come in handy when you're in a hurry. You could eat a hot dog from both ends in seconds flat. Or fight over an extra long noodle and end up kissing. The possibilities are endless.

He can't have mine.

[shameless plug] I have a product for sale on SLX that is a tuna crate, gives a can of tuna upon being touched. The can can be rezzed and opens on touch to provide an eating animation for a little while before the can is deleted and another must be got from the crate, the crate gives out 27 before being depleted - of course the crate is copy so another may be rezzed whenever I made it for roleplaying Nekos and other tuna loving peeps http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=525485 [/shameless plug]
