Since LL seem to be returning to the forums a little, an open letter to them,
Seems I got AR'd for a prim wall I placed on my land that blocked anyone seeing some ad/extortion plots next to me. (The ad plots are not for sale, the extortion plots have high prices but no ads)
I built a nice wall, made it phantom, it was invisible (completely) so I wasn't blocking anyones view out, the wall _NEVER_ blocked more than 2 sides of any ad plot directly.
I have to admit I put up a cheeky sign, letting them know that no one could see their ads.
Anyway it was all returned to me, because I supposedly blocked 3 sides of someones land (not true, and I can prove it), oh and for the cheeky sign as well.
I'm not going to lay down on this, they have a right to do as they wish on their land, as I do on mine, I didn't block their access, I didn't prevent them from seeing out, but I did prevent myself and my visitors from seeing their ugly crap.
I've gone and thrown out a heap of prims now, randomly scattered, not phantom, not invisible, so now my land is ugly, I've used more prims, but the effect is the same, no one can see their ads.
I really don't care if some idiot who wants to sell a 16sqm plot for $15,000 L$ complains to you that I have blocked them, what I care about is that I pay $195 a month in tier and can't have a decent view because you still allow extortion on 16sqm plots, your last policy change only made them change their business model a little.
I also don't really care if you suspend me, go ahead, it will save me a ton of cash every month and I'm sure I'll be happy living on my 5 sims in OSGrid that have NO ad plots/extortion plots around them.
So LL, what is the correct method for hiding something I don't want to see? Hmmm? I believe that my original effort fit within your guidelines, but seems not.
((I don't really expect LL to answer this, nor respond well to the support request I have filed about it, but it's annoyed me enough to stick with it, yes I get a bee in my bonnet about things sometimes))

Good for you. Seriously. Unless your cheeky sign had something against the TOS on it then LL was wrong to do this. The owner of the ad farm likely got noobiedontknownothing Linden and they returned the items. It is your land so you have every right to block off the view of an ad farmer on it.

I really wish LL would crack down on the adfarmers. I think the land crash is due to people feeling that if they buy land and pay tier, it's not worth it because their land can become a dump of adfarms, ban lines and mega ugly sky high prims overnight.
Ihave a growing adfarm nightmare next to my property, and no matter how much I AR the violation, I get no response.

The sign said:
"You think this ad land is worth anything? Try going to the road and looking. No one can see your ads"
I used a trick to hide the ads but allow a clear view, so it appears to just be barren land, I guess the adfarmer/extortionist really didn't like that.
Unfortunately it wasn't Noobie Linden, it was a well known one, and until now one I respected.
Anyway now there are pretty coloured columns all over the place, they block nothing except the view, I consider it a piece of Artwork! *laughs*

Hmmm...
I think maybe your mistake was in being honest - revealing your motives in a straightforward way. I can't help but feel that if you hadn't put up a "neener-neener!" sign and stuck with a strict "Who me??? This is ART!!! It is my EXPRESSION OF SELF!!!" story you could have blocked the view of thier ads completely with impunity. Just bluster, deny, blow BS all over and hide behind your "Rights" .. you know, like the ad farmers do.
LL has of course grown extremely PC, and the ultimate punishable sins in any PC environment are truth, reality, & honesty.
At this time you may not be able to successfully change your story so as to be left alone, but I hope that you CAN. Good luck.

"supercalifragisomecrap" makes Xerxes one of my favorite posters.
Mitzi - my personal opinion is that you did nothing wrong. If they can put whatever they want on their property blocking up your view, then you should be able to do the same. Your message was probably what got it returned to you because it made it clear that the only reason you put the wall there was to annoy your neighbors. Of course, their reason for the crap on their land was paper thin, so they should have their crap returned as well. Until they make me a Linden, which seems awfully unlikely (I'm available - hear that Lindens? I can't relocate, but just say the word and I'll forward my resume) the ad farmers are likely to be able to keep their ugly crap in your way.

*smiles* Yes I was honest and up front, why not, thats the way I do things. I'll continue to be honest and upfront, so Mr S. Linden and any other Lindens who wish to return my items, I currently have a large number of prims placed "randomly" so no one can see the ads, but later tonight when I get home I am going to pull them all down, and replace them with a platform. I've decided the only way to get away from them is to go up, not build on the land, so I'm going to build a nice platform for my place, some 150-200metres up, any parcels I enclose is not my fault, I'm merely building a place to live on. I'm not a fan of floating platforms, so it will be anchored to the ground. Of course because its a platform it wont be able to be phantom (sorry about that ad farmers you wont be able to move onto my land, oh thats right you can't anyway, your all banned from my land), I will of course ensure that you can see out from your land. This is not an attempt to hide you, block people seeing your ads, or any of that, its merely me building what I want on my land M. (Is that rustling noise behind me the sound of a Linden strapping on a size 12 boot?)

Be sure and check out SLEX or OnRez for some of those MegaPrim packs that are free. If you are going to be forced skyward to not have to look at ads then at least try to do it in one prim. I bet there is one that will work for you. You can also make one of those privacy screens around your land on the ground. I see those all over.. if they return your's they better get them all.

Linden Lab run the ad farms and porn blocks :\ They don't care and take pleasure in making your life a misery and taking your money. Welcome to pornospamripoffclipjointland: your money, their profits.

Ordinarily, I would laugh off the above comments. But after my experiences here over the last year, I am not so willing to reject that notion any more.

So a sign basically saying "hard luck, your ugly ad farm griefing is blocked out of view" IS griefing - but annoying the hell out of everyone in the neighbourhood, destroying everyone's views and ruining their land values ISN'T? Why isn't this nonsense being stamped upon? It does encourage the idea of something rotten in the state of Lindenmark. -- Aes

From: Salvador Nakamura sadly one could almost think this is true. . Its beginning to really look this way. I have read a lot of posts lately about peoples AR's against ad farmers going unanswered while the ad farmer's are seemingly getting a golden ticket to do as they please and make the grid look like garbage. Its sad when money is more important then a customers happiness and it looks as though LL has learned nothing and are still willing to screw its clientele for the almighty buck. Meh one day (hopefully soon) competition is going to come along and LL's little merry world will collapse around them.

Welcome to pornospamripoffclipjointland: your money, their profits. I know that there MUST be some Linden landcutters. Or at least Lindens who are involved with landcutter/adfarms. There used to be this Potato guy who would mute you if you even asked him if he'd be willing to sell or relocate his 16m plots. Then one day he put them all up for sale--Exactly one day before the Linden blog post announcing the crack down on adfarm extortionists. Circumstantial perhaps. But coincidental? I THINK NOT.

We've also seen this in our group. It appears that the Governance Team has been given some new orders (or maybe are taking it upon themselves) to clear out "walls at the edges of parcels", saying things like "you can't block someone on 3 sides" and "if you have problems with someone's content, then report it, not block it".
To SFB Linden:
The problem is, we HAVE reported it MANY TIMES, and YOU ALL have done NOTHING to FIX the EFFIN' PROBLEM!
So, "reporting it" is not an option anymore, because of YOUR incompetence.

Although I agree in principle, I think people have an antiquated way of looking at the TOS. The days where "Unless the TOS/CS specifically forbids it" is the rule are long gone. Linden Labs is no longer bound by such a "quaint" notion when it comes to enforcement. At least until recently, two of the biggest banned activities in second life are not even mentioned in the TOS. Ageplay/Gambling. And I think banking still isn't in there. Even though they have built in related filters to prevent parcel names and ads related to such. ---------------- I think the days of "Well no one said you couldn't do X" are gone.

So, I can't just rez a prim and make it alpha on all sides except one and phantom to block out the jackasses who create crap and spew it out over the sim? But when we AR the crap, we're ignored?
I'm tempted to drop notecards on Linden heads about this issue. Maybe get some answers and clarify what I can and can't do on my own land...

You cant block the view of your neighbor's plot from your parcel, but you can put up Tacky and pornographic ads next to it. As long as you aren't selling your plot at an exorbitant rate.

Oh, for visual muting! If they gave us this, we'd never have to deal with this BS. The governance team would find they have so much less to do...

I find myself increasingly agitated reading this thread.
I mean really, how dare they!
If this had happened to me I would be HOPPING MAD! And every Linden on the grid would hear from me and my large walls would go RIGHT back up!
I would not back down one bit, they would have to suspend me and then ban me because I WOULD NOT LET THIS GO.
/me slaps himself in the face and screams "CALM DOWN! IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO YOU!"
Sorry, just things like this really make me indignant.

I feel like you do. It's like they're leaning towards the adfarms rather than the rest of us and that hardly seems fair.

Perhaps this is a "megaprim" issue.
Megaprims were a workaround hack created some time ago and became wild in distribution on the grid. Megaprims and the physics engine don't get along all that well, likely because the mass, collision and dimensions are atypical of the current system.
Linden Lab asked residents whether megaprims should be banned under Havok4 and it seems the community at large was in favor of them.
It's likely LL developed an internal policy about enforcement. Anyone using megaprims with discretion would not be disciplined, whereas megaprims used for blockage or intolerant purposes will be removed.
In the past, we have had several megaprims block us from accessing our land and LL removed them immediately in nearly every instance.
While I can sympathize with the OP, it's prudent to remember that if you play with the bull, you'll get the horn.
