Yeah...prior to it going down, I was attempting to sit in a chair. None of the poseballs were working correctly, my beanbags were mere attachments. Looked like I was standing in a puddle of poo. And the wierdest thing, when I tried to sit on a chair, I was tp'd to the first floor of my house. LOL what the hell is going on?!

LL better be getting a Big Fat Discount from this network provider they're using. And hope they'll share the rebate check, if they're actually paying for redundant routing (which they should) and the network provider f'd it up (which they usually do--it's easier to just lie about redundant routing than to actually wade through layers of bandwidth resellers to find out whether there's common hardware anywhere).

First Life.. NOOOOOO!!!
04-05-2008 09:20
My first life sucks, I refuse to go. /me wonders if the doctor can put me into a medically induced coma till SL is back up? Ok, on that I am kidding. But I do want to say something.
I am about 3 hours ahead of SL time. It is almost noon here and still can't get online. I practically live in SL. Not because I am addicted. Although some part of me is. I have physical medical problems connected to 30 years of diabetes making RL painful and no fun at all for me.
To me RL is not a good enjoyable option. I am not looking for a pity party. I want people who apparently don't see the good of virtual worlds and SL in general. Those people are the same ones who apparently think people who enjoy VR worlds are not experiancing REAL relationships or one on one time with other human beings.
They somehow think it is not good for people to be home away from the rest of the human rat race, and should leave their computers and get out to meet others.
IF SL is so bad why are they even here trying to convince us to leave it for RL. They should be the first to not be here. I love my Secondlife In RL I am legally blind, one blind eye, one fair eye with a surgical buckle holding up my right retina. Numb extremities, and a kidney transplant after 8 years of waiting on dialysis. The pills are loaded with side effects. Side effects like mood swings, weight gain, alergy to sun light, and neropathy. Since my feet are numb I hate walking much, I use a cane outside for balance.
What about that makes you think I want to be in RL doing much of anything. So, gor those of you wanting us to get out of secondlife and ENJOY RL for a change. Just remember, some of us have reasons to love being in a virtual world where life is more fun.
In SL, besides the obvious of flying and teleporting, I can do so much more. I can see great distances on my screen, I can rez many objects I always have on my person, and I can build with no overhead or expence in materials.
In SL I can learn a martial art just by learning its history and getting animations. In RL one wrong hit to my kidney area would result in a painful rejection that I may not live through.. Not taking any martial arts now.
Just had to vent cause someone in here mentioned leaving SL for RL, and it just reminded me of all the times I have seen that in many of the forum topics, including people I have seen in RL that talk about that. News reporters on TV and so on.
Besides, like many of you I am twitching over here from my lack of SL at the moment.

I met others in SL. I was alone for 13 years from a very hostile/unsafe marriage. I met a man from Scotland (I am in the USA) who has become the love of my life. He has visited and spent a total of 6 months in my home over the past two years. We talk hours a day in our free time, while we interact, have a family, play, go dancing, and do romantic things in sl. So I am with you on this one. SL is not a replacement for relationships, it can actually be a catalyst for developing them. How would I have met a man from Scotland otherwise, I certainly wouldn't use online dating services, in fact I wasn't looking for love, it just found me through SL. Now we use SL to spend time together, to cope with being 3,000 miles away. We are on our way to being together here in the USA over the next 4-6 months as we apply and wait for fiance visa's. I also have many friends from all over the world I call family, who I am as close to as those in my rl, because for me, these relationships have carried into my rl. So, you keep going! I know several with mobility issues, and health issues that have experienced things in sl they would never get a chance to experience in rl. You know, there are physical restraints in life, but there are also emotional issues people face as well that can be just as debilitating. I know of several people that sL has helped them to grow, blossom, and even learn more about themselves. That to me is a invaluable thing.

I agree

I am an old man I think. I met my wife back when the dial up BBS was popular. I was running a fairly popular one in my area and she logged in one day. We got chatting a bit when it looked like she was running out of time. I didn't want her to leave before getting to check out more features. So I meant to artificially give her more time on. It was a matter of hitting F3 and I hit F2, taking all she had away.
I had a phone number verification at the time. I called her at home to tell her what happened, and let her know she was no longer out of time for the day, and we continued to speak and decided to meet. We have been together ever since.
Now we have a great bouncing baby kitty to enjoy. snicker.
But you are right and I have also met people in here that have gained much from SL as far as being therapeutic goes. Many have extreme depression, which in my many mood swing I have experienced some of myself. But I know them, and find some very talented people among them.
