From: Oryx Tempel /me throws a dinner roll at the OP Hey! Where are you? This is your thread! The Right and Righteous Blah blah blah, esq. takes care of all orphans. No thread left behond is his motto. Gives them a home, two bowls of gruel a day and teaches them the value of backbreaking labor in his High and Holy Production Facility of the Bleeding Knuckles, turning out knock-off religious icons and Nike shoes for .25L/hour. The survivors...I mean best students are set to work as camp-bots.

The threat of bringing in the Reverend must have worked. It's been quiet here all day. Besides, it's kind of hard to hijack a thread that really didn't have a destination to begin with. /me grins

That Gorean chick is going to make for some miiiiighty jealous Forumitas... The right and Righteous Rev Whatever is always hiring. It takes a lot of lovely assistants to run the Worldwide Ministry of the Almighty Dog and Pony Show. Please send resumes and neked pictures...I mean "qualifications" to the Rev in-world for his viewing, reviewing and purviewing. There's a-plenty of room in flock for a few more wayward souls, especially if they have money, so gather round and listen? Hear that? It's St. Peter, blowing his horn to call us home! Rejoice and get out your checkbooks, children! We need a new mirrored smoke generator!

I just want to let anyone interested know what I found. The problem started back up again after a day or so and got steadily worse. However, this time I noticed that the problem was also affecting normal e-mail and web operations. I ran several diagnostics, and speed tests from several sources and everything tested out fine, downstream speeds were right on the nose, and upstream speeds were only slightly down. Since the problem was even worse in SL with the prims moving around on their own, and the effect spilling over to other sites, I called the cable company and discussed it with them.
Finally, they agreed to resend the configuration to our cable modem, and the problem went away completely. About 24 hours later it started back up again, so I called and had them send the configuration file right away and the problem was solved again.
From the tests and discussion I have been having with some other technicians, it seems that my cable modem is losing, or corrupting part of its configuration. This seems to be causing a problem with the upstream packets. For normal internet, this manifests as varying levels of sluggishness, but in SL it becomes a very strange pattern of random effects on items I am trying to edit.
Anyone else experiencing similar problems may want to check with their ISP.
Now if I can just get all the smoke cleared out, all the mirrors boxed up, and… hmmm… I don’t even know what *that* is. Exorcisms sure can get messy.
