Tier rental businesses

Now THAT'S just cruel and unusual.

Some people do price on the notion of - some idiot might pay this and I can sit on it.

I've also seem some that hold a high price for almost a month, and then go from that to abandon... Having failed to give themselves enough time at a realistic price (a few hours to be honest) to sell.

- And then I see plots in the 2-2.3 range that sell between the time it takes me to TP to a daily freebie, grab it, and zip home...

What I've also seen a lot of is people who buy, build nothing, and don't sell it. Instead they put 'rental' in the description, but never set up renting utilities on the land, and it just sits there... unused.

(But today one person came in and bought a 4096 behind me that was priced at 2.2/sqm, and had a renter on it building himself a castle in the sky by afternoon.)

- You still can make money off of land, you just have to adjust your expectations about the value. That said, the new prices are getting low enough that 'just land flipping' might not make enough to cover tier... If they're not there yet, they're very close. It might be that people who buy land soon will have to be limited to people who actually use it.
- Which honestly, is a good thing.

I confess I almost did that. It wasn't unused -- I spent months setting up the rentals before I got distracted, had everything almost ready to go, and I didn't buy the land to make the rentals, so that wasn't its primary purpose. But in the end I still had my cottages sitting out for a year, with everything labeled as rentals, no one using them, and the only rental box sitting in my test area where no one could get to it. Pretty stupid, if not quite as bad as your example. I could have been making money all that time! Maybe if I had been I wouldn't be looking to downgrade now.
