Everyone loves a good castle. It is the ultimate in RP living. As a female, I like the impressive exterior of them but I like to have a more bright, modern interior. I have not seen any that have really gone in that direction. I love to see painstaking detail on the outside of these mammoth builds. Anyone have any slurls to post so we can go and check out some of the more spectacular ones?

Victorianna Castle is really beautiful. I don't have the slurl, though.

It's not a castle, but if you haven't seen it, Dresden Gallery is well worth a visit.
It's an amazing replica of the real thing in Dresden, Germany. While the architecture isn't gothic, strictly speaking, it has rather a gothic feel.

Victorianna castle looks rather large. How many sq.m does it need?

I would mention to the store at Falln Angels- you can shop and marvel at the construction of the thing.

And not sure how big Vitoriana is- sorry.

I just visited Skye Castles yesterday and was VERY impressed with the builds. Not only are they pleasing to look at and well detailed but they also have interesting features as in how doors open, staircases appear, etc. Below are LMs to see the various builds by them--all of which are for sale (and no--I don't have any affiliation...just appreciate their work). The first 4 are castles. The others are not so much castles but still lovely.

Those Skye castles look pretty good. There are alot of castles around and the better ones make very good use of textures to augment imaginative and creative primwork. I've done a few castles but my texturing was a bit ho-hum so the primwork had to carry all the aesthetic work. They're fun to make. Now you've got me on the castle bug :D

QFT, 90% of the ones I have seen have been eyesores. A plague upon the grid worse than anything imagined by an ad farmer.

There's a castle from Riz Designs next door to my new land that is quite nicely designed if a bit symmetrical. I won't post a picture because it's residential and I don't know the guy.

I built a castle on a 512 plot for my friend, on the Nemmers sim. It was based on 200L starter unit (full mod) which got extended and altered to use prim efficiency. Since the desired 'feeling' of the castle has changed over time, it is now quite warm and cosy inside.
Sorry no pics. at work !

PS I noticed the top Linden guy popped in yesterday, funny how my security drawbridge didn't impede him, hahaha

Riz Designs do make some nice castles. I have their Gothem Tower, and the prim and texture detail is fantastic.

When a linden is in god mode no radar will see them and I think volume and colision detect wont work too so they can walk on land protected by securety devices and not get booted or even warned.

I love castles too, and I’ve built and thrown away several in my time, then recently I cam across a parcel that seemed to be crying out for a castle to be built. So far I’ve built and textured the outer shell, now I’ll start trying ideas for inside.
The parcel is a precipitous hillside that rises from sea level to over 100m with only a tiny ‘level’ area on top, so I decided to make it traditional English fortress style (at least on the outside). I would love suggestions on what others would like to see inside, so if anyone wants to visit……………..

Availon (sp)? The multiple sim middle ages area, is the only castle off the top of my head that I can think of that didn't cause me to turn my draw distance down to 4 meters.

My favorite castle builders are JD Insky and Greatscott McMillan (whose stuff is at Tir Na NoG). Insky's stuff is too Gothic and dark for modern, but I think any of GS's stuff that is in the light brown stone, from the lodges to the castles, would be a great fit for modern.

I like them for the solid build. Some of those that look good from the outside down function well as actual abodes. Stairs difficult to maneuver, walls that are too insubstantial.

Tir na Nog was supposed to be the 'Land Over There', ephemeral and somewhat like the afterlife, although heroes could make the journey, and Greatscott has it full of castles. Just south where I have our parcel, Tir na Caer stands for Land of the Castles (best I can translate) and we (meaning all of us) don't have a castle on the place. Oh, well, so much for truth in advertising or whatever.
