Tristan - Several people, including myself, have tried to help. So stick your generalizations where the WindLight® don't shine.

From: Marion Clarrington That is understood. This will not do. It is unspoken that because this woman is allowed to do business in SL that there is an understood agreement that SL endorses this vendor or she would have been shut down forTOS violations. Morally you are right, but Linden Labs looks at it from a 'we can stand to lose a few customers rather than pay to employ some customer support personal.' And while technically you could sue and likely win over the 580L, it is about $2.50, and the court filing fees would be a few hundred, plus time and so on... - and then there's the question of who is liable: the person who's vendor box you used is not the person who actually sold it to you. That's not how affiliate vendors work. They just got a commission for you buying it -from the creator- while on their land. That is why people tell you to just move on and note that vend-box as bad. As for the maker of the product - give him time, check his profile to see how best to reach him, and do so. If he was ever paid by the vendor box, he will have a record of you, and will be able to act accordingly. Do note that if you used a third party vending box, the woman who had it on her land likely was only paid a small handful of lindens. The affiliate boxes I've tried out pay me from 2.5% to 10% - I've seen some paying more, but so far none of those matched what I wanted sold in my coming shop. That would mean that if it had been me, I would have been paid at most 58L, and I would not have any copies of the item to give you - I would have been just as powerless as you to fix the problem.

From: Tristin Mikazuki *snip*Copy your transaction history and send that notecard to the person you bought it from also the creator Stukas Zephaniah is pretty cool and will probbly help ya out But really dont bother with the SL forums to many giant egos and tiny brains here. Because of course the transaction thing wasn't suggested way before oh so helpful Tristin showed up... Good luck OP- sadly stuff does go south with sales at times- but most sellers are pretty helpful in getting it straightened out - once u hit upon the right person-

From: Felony Fabre Since you did mention that you are relatively new, are you sure the item was not, in fact, delivered? Purchased items do not always create new folders in your inventory. Sometimes you'll find the item 'boxed' in your Objects folder. Might not hurt to check your Lost and Found folder as well. Apologies if you've done all this, but worth a mention I think ... Very good point. When people complained about stuff not being delivered, we used to replace our copy/no transfer items without making further inquiries once we'd been show proof of purchase, until we realized we were still getting lots of people saying they hadn't received stuff we knew we'd given them and they'd accepted. So we started asking people, in the first instance, to check their "recent items" tab for boxed objects, telling them exactly what name to filter for. Turns out our vendors were rather more reliable than we'd thought (though still not 100%, by any means).

chip, meet shoulder... Actually, it wasn't an apology. I think I have actually apologized one time in the 3 years I have been here. I type what I mean and mean what I type. The post you quoted was more a "Sorry, you are wrong."

From: Snickers Snook For her newly acquired 16x16m ad farm plot? So that's a 256 parcel... Which is too big for an ad farm, and too small for most skyboxes (though there are many 10x10s). If you meant a 16sqm parcel - its too small for what you'd want a rezzer for, and a typical ad farm wouldn't be good in a rezzer anyway - it needs to stay up and not get repeatedly reset.

From: Marion Clarrington ... there is an understood agreement that SL endorses this vendor or she would have been shut down forTOS violations... Marion, There are two sides to every story. I know that you are feeling cheated right now, but please understand that a) it might actually be user error on your part, or b) SL itself might have had a hiccup. So don't be too quick to get angry at the seller. Also, understand that LL is a *service provider*. They do not have the manpower or the inclination to "endorse" and police every resident. That's up to you. If you buy something on eBay and get ripped off, do you complain about the seller, or about the eBay service? Now...if you read this thread carefully, you'll see several possible explanations for what happened, and specific things you should do about the problem. Filing an AR will NOT be productive. Screaming at the parcel owner, or even the product creator, will NOT be productive. Sending the product creator a *politely worded* IM, AND a notecard, with the details from your SL account transaction log, is your best bet for resolution. You send both the IM and the notecard because a lot of busy people have their IMs "capped", and might not get yours if they are off line. Most SL merchants give very good customer service. One final word. Before buying a temp rezzer, you should understand their limitations, and the effect they have on the region's total available prims and lag. You should not use them to get around the prim limits on a small parcel, especially if you are only renting there. Most landlords consider the use of temp rezzers to be grounds for eviction.

From: Brenda Connolly I'd listen to her if I were the OP. Someone named Felony would never steer you wrong. From: Damien1 Thorne At least her name wasn't Congress, then we'd really be in trouble. I thought Congress meant Felony -- they are committing Grand Larceny on the American people every day.

From: Marion Clarrington She told me to ask the creator of the item but he does not respond in real time. You will only get a real time response if the person you have IMd is in world when you send your message and able to respond, business owners do *not* sit around 24/7 in world waiting to help customers.... some may not even be in world for days at a time.

You also have to understand that most SL people also have a RL and since most retailers in SL don't make an actual living from what they do in here they have RL jobs. Err does that make sense? So basically when you have to send a note to someone (alway a note not IMs!!!) it might take them quite a while to respond to it.
Fortunately after wayyy too long in SL I've not had many problems and as far as I can remember there was only one seller who never responded and so I never went back and bought the rest of the stuff I wanted off them.
