Sorry Marion.

The best you can do is not visit that retailer anymore.

Be thankful it was only $580.

I paid for something, but didn't receive it as promised. Or: I provided something, but wasn't paid for it as promised.

We're sorry: Linden Lab cannot verify, enforce, certify, examine, uphold, or adjudicate any oath, contract, deal, bargain, or agreement made by the Residents of Second Life. Please contact the Resident with whom you have a dispute, and request that they make good on the deal. While you may have a valid agreement with another person, Linden Lab is not a party to and cannot resolve your dispute.

No movement either way after two abuse reports and a ticket report.

Sadly, LL will not get involved in resident disputes - the best thing to do is learn from it.

In RL money L$580 is only a couple of dollars, so it's not too bad.

Once last try, you could ask the vendor if they have a record of the transaction, and allso check your transaction history and show them a copy of the transaction. It may help them track any mistake...

If after showing them that and them checking thier transaction, you dont get anywhere - just think - do you really want to do business again with a person that will risk thier reputation for the sake of $2?

That is understood. This will not do. It is unspoken that because this woman is allowed to do business in SL that there is an understood agreement that SL endorses this vendor or she would have been shut down forTOS violations.
What if every businessperson decided to rip people off because they could and that SL would allow it?
That is NOT good business practice and it is not understood that residents should expect to be defrauded.
Why doesn't this woman fix her vendbox. It's a click for quickpay and you get your product. She told me to ask the creator of the item but he does not respond in real time.

From what you say about her telling you to contact the creator of the product, it sounds as if she's just got an associate vendor on her land. That is, she just hosts the vendor, which pays the full sale price to the item's creator whenever it makes a sale, and then automatically debits the creator's account to pay her a small commission in return for letting the vendor sit on her land rent-free.

If that's the case, you really do need to take the matter up with the creator, not her. She has no way of giving you a replacement and she can't give you a refund.. the money didn't go to her. She doesn't even know, probably, that it's sold you an item (as opposed to that it made a sale to someone).

Vendors are normally pretty reliable but they do sometimes fail to deliver, particularly if SL is acting up. What I'd suggest is that you go to your account on the SL website and find the record of the transaction -- it should say where, when and how much you paid, and it will be to the creator, I think, and not her. **

Copy-paste the details to a notecard, and forward that to the creator, explaining that you paid for the item but didn't receive it. Unfortunately, because of the way SL works, there's no real way for a creator to know -- none that I know of, anyway -- that a vendor has failed to deliver an item. But most people are pretty reasonable about giving replacements under such circumstances, so long as you ask the person who can actually do something about it.

I really would, though, think twice about accusing people of deliberate fraud and theft under such circumstances -- it's far more likely, at least in my experience, that you're the victim of network problems than deliberate malpractice.

**ETA -- thinking about it, it occurred to me later that it's probably more likely, depending on the type of vendor used and how it's configured, that the payment will show as being to the shopkeeper rather than the creator. But this is a matter of in-world accounting and doesn't affect my point that the only person who can help you is the object's creator, not the owner of the land where the vendor is. And it makes it that much more important that you copy the transaction details and forward them to the creator with your complaint.

Since you did mention that you are relatively new, are you sure the item was not, in fact, delivered? Purchased items do not always create new folders in your inventory. Sometimes you'll find the item 'boxed' in your Objects folder. Might not hurt to check your Lost and Found folder as well. Apologies if you've done all this, but worth a mention I think ...

OP did you send a note card with transaction history to the content creator?

Sometimes vendors lag and you get the wrong thing, though. Some owners/creators will send you the right one, some won't. Sorry

I wholeheartedly endorse Innula's comment, and would add that you also might like to revisit the TOS when it comes to doing business in SL:

From: TOS
1.2 Linden Lab is a service provider, which means, among other things, that Linden Lab does not control various aspects of the Service.

You acknowledge that Linden Lab is a service provider that may allow people to interact online regarding topics and content chosen by users of the service, and that users can alter the service environment on a real-time basis. Linden Lab generally does not regulate the content of communications between users or users' interactions with the Service. As a result, Linden Lab has very limited control, if any, over the quality, safety, morality, legality, truthfulness or accuracy of various aspects of the Service.

Whether we like it or not, it's what we sign up to. Having said that, network problems are legion, and I would always give a supplier the benefit of the doubt until I'd exhausted every avenue.

What was the OP doing buying that item in Gwail?

The vendor for them seems to be in Specter.

I was setting up an affiliate vendor in my shop space - playing around really, when a friend tried to buy a 5L item. Because I was working in a config menu, the vendor took her money but never delivered the item.

1. I learned to never play with those things when someone is in the area other than me.
2. Thank goodness it was only 5L that we learned that on. I tossed her the money and we moved on.

(I'm trying to pick a good affiliate system to put my own products into once I have them, so I've been rezzing various vendor systems in a closed room and seeing what they offer me and a potential customer - and whether or not I can afford the prim space they demand.)

So... it may be that if the OP bought their item that way - something like that was going on.

90% of the controversy over these things seems to be competing makers accusing each other of stealing it and reselling a hacked version - yet if you read their features, they all offer different things.

I suspect some of the 'this thing crashes SL' flames are really just alts of those competitors...

Hi Marion as you see from most of the responces you got this is the last place you goto for help to many here are just griefers and nothing more. Try the slx forums WAY better or the slapt.me forums.
Copy your transaction history and send that notecard to the person you bought it from also the creator Stukas Zephaniah is pretty cool and will probbly help ya out ;-)
But really dont bother with the SL forums to many giant egos and tiny brains here.
