From: Nakie Nightfire A majority of folks in this forum seem to have a worshiping sort of tunnelvision view of LL. Heck this is LL's forum, after all. Do most realize it is nearly exactly the same viewer that connects to OpenSim, with minor changes (such as allowing 100m prims, and something like 45,000 prims per region instead of the mere 15,000 LL offers)? You have been here in SL for a year and yet have only been in the forum for the last couple of days. The assertion that the majority of folks here are worshiping LL is an incredibly naive statement. It would be far fetched to even try to make the same statement using the term minority. I myself have gone overboard criticizing some of LL's decisions to the point of jeopardizing my account. But in this one case the only beef I have with them is punishing the people who used open spaces the way we were told to use them. You are again showing your naivity when you say that LL is going to be irreparably harmed because of it's own actions. This is going to be nothing but a bump in the road that coupled with our present economy may last for a few months. From: Nakie Nightfire and yada, yada, blah, blah, blah. No skills? No desire to learn? Stay with LL. For the rest, welcome to a wonderful tomorrow. You forget that these very same skill sets are what allow people to actually have the opportunity to make money. By it's very nature this will never be truly possible with OpenSim. The lack of these very same skill sets are what would prompt people to stay in Second Life. EIther scenario still involves Second Life. OpenSim is important and that is why a lot of us have been participating in it. Some from the time it was only a dim hope for the future. But OpenSim is and will never be a replacement for Second Life. Wish you the best of luck.

Wake up, Jesse hawney. Nakie is an alt. I have been here since late 2005* sweetie. I thought you'd be at least smart enough to realize that. Kiss Kiss. *and I dare say reading and posting to this forum longer than you, sir. Naive? Whatever you want to believe is fine with Nakie.

Ya know... the more of these posts I see from OpenSim enthusiasts, the more I'm convinced it's somewhere I really don't want to be.

From: Jesse Barnett Well no, neither I nor anyone else who has been here longterm would believe you after you making that statement that the majority here worship LL.
And as far as that goes, if you are jumping ship and preaching that it is the end of LL, why are you hiding behind an alt? Do I detect someone trying not to burn their bridges? I think it's admirable that people want to take a stand in this situation, where there is perceived injustice. And all the venting and venom spewing is understandable as well. But I do wonder out of all the people calling for the storming of LL's Bastille, of protests, threatened legal action, and general hand wringing, how many would be apt to come up out of the basment and attend a local school board or city council meeting when their property taxed are raised. Or maybe picket a RL business that is using unethical practices. Or an antiwar or support the troops rally. Or even just going out and voting. It's fine to love SL, especially if you have something invested in it, but you still have to keep it in perspective.

Not jumping ship, Jesse. What LL does it does well. What I *am* doing, is both surrendering my openspaces and broadening my horizons. At this time, LL clearly has the best game in town—only a fool would say otherwise and I am no fool. As for not burning bridges, it just happens that year-old Nakie has become my favorite fantasy and should have been my first. Oh, and with nothing to hide, Nakie Nightfire is my presence on OpenSim too. Come visit me either here in SL, or in OS. I'd enjoy meeting you in-world.

The perspective part is what has thrown me for a loop on this one. I like SL, in fact I like SL a lot and I love scripting. Probably would not be alive if it wasn't for the combination of the two. BUT(just imagine this as a great big, humongous "but" because that is how it is meant) it has always been hard for me to imagine people having the disposable income to afford an island unless they have a business tied to it, none the less an accompanying Open Space sim. It is hard enough to find an extra $10 at the end of the month after bills, none the less, a couple of hundred. So it is kind of hard to be sympathetic to the situation. I place myself in the median income range, but there are a lot more pressing matters that need my bank account's attention, including the future education of my daughter. I have a vivid imagination but even I can't imagine making so much money that I could fritter away a couple of thousand a year.

It is difficult sometimes to separate the response to the subject and the response to the person, this makes it seem more personal then the real intention at times. What you built/created was built selflessly for others to enjoy and this is admirable. In my opinion it was just built on the wrong place. But as I mentioned above, I also understand why it was not built on a full fledged island with it's accompanying full fledged bills.

Well , Well...Just another excuse to exit ,you have many. You will throw a drama and blame all those that cared...well truly you just love the drama and the hurt it leaves behind. I think it is time for you to find a reality based in compassion. Sir. You have given much hurt to people, and yes people...who have just stood by and called you a friend. WAKE UP . Start apologizing, and by the way you have no right to complain about anything. You had the whole world in your hands....and you crushed it with your over analytical selfish..brooding ways. Get some joy. There was a time you knew that word.Do not bother responding...I never check posts but this was too much for me to ignore. What goes around, comes back around. What happened to you?

So nice of you to create a very first forum post here showing your hateful, spiteful, mean and ugly venomous side for all the forum world to read. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for troubling yourself to enter my sims and spit your venom at my innocent guests and visitors—one of whom reported your unusually abusive behavior toward her and indignant insistence that ALL Indian lands were sacred and my sims somehow blasphemed that concept. In any other circumstance, I would have/should have banned you for that—but didn't and won't unless you repeat that sad performance. Had I wanted to conceal my identity from those in my past, I could have easily done exactly that.

From: Jannae Karas So all my friends got screwed, and I should just forgive and forget? No you should stay in SL and explore other options and while those that have got burnt stay, they will be able to warn new customers coming into SL what LL gets up to, so those people can make informed choices. We have informed our group, only about 850, what has happened and why we have taken certain new paths and a friend who has a group in the thousands has done the same. I got a suspension for mentioning another grid in the forums, i have since had an apology and as far as i am concerned it is sorted out, but that will not stop me promoting the other grid in world via the group and signs on our land about it etc etc. So i say to people downgrade if you want but stay in game and use this entertainment platform to let others know what to expect down the line. That will hurt more than people leaving. As Brenda and Jessie said, then the new customers won't know what LL is really like

You have several choices really:
1 - be silent or offer constructive criticism and keep paying for the changed services 2 - whine and keep paying for the changed services 3 - be silent or offer constructive criticism and stop paying for the changed services 4 - whine and stop paying for the changed services 5 - be silent or offer constructive criticism and leave second life completely 6 - whine and leave second life completely
Guess which ones will be respected choices. (hint none of them are even numbers)
The change sucks for many, quite often the corporate responses to abuse tend to suck hard for a lot of innocents. such is the reason why the infamous nerf bat is feared in online games and communities
