Land fee???????

Since I am awake at this ungodly hour, I was doing some ebaying and banking and noticed a $5 hit from LL on my bank account. It shows in my account history here as "Land Fee up to 512 m. I'm basic, I don't own Linden Land, I do have space on anestate. Any idea what this is? I don't recall seeing anything on the blog about this.

Sounds very strange. Try contacting billing chat (I do hope they still exist) to ask about this. When I contacted them about some other billing issues they proved very helpful and sorted them out right away.

just a thought, as the owner of the Cartel group would it have anything to do with that?

Edit. But I don't think so now I thought about it so forget that idea. The Group has always had enough tier so can't be that.

Hmmmm, maybe. Good Call. I asked here before using support as i wanted the best chance for a timely and correct answer. That may be it. When our Co Owner gets his tail out of bed perhaps he can weigh in.

Could it have been a very short period of time with a tier shortfall before the stash was replenished, which then fell foul of LL's bill date?

Brenda, as you may recollect I was the groups buffer up until 2 weeks ago. Prior to my withdrawing I had several discussion with Chris so that donations could be found prior to my withdrawal.
When I finally withdrew the group had plenty of tier donated so I don't understand how there could of been any shortfall.

If there was a shortfall due to my withdrawing then I would feel somewhat responsible and would be happy to give you the US$5.00 you've been charged.

If that was the cause, don't worry about it. I downgraded and my tier was lost as well, so I'd call it a wash. I'm not concerned about the money. I just am leery of another New Policy, that the Providers have conveniently forgotten to announce as they seperate us from our Quatloos.

Sounds like a billing mistake to me. It looks suspiciously like the fee a premium would pay to up tier from the "bonus" 512 to 1024. If you had tier donated to a group, one might imagine that they'd bill this, but I checked and at least for the Forum Cartel, you don't. And I'm pretty darn sure that Larry is correct and there was always a tier buffer in that group anyway. So, I'm thinking SLAFU®.

It says Land Fee UP TO 512 though........ *sighs* I guess I will have to work up the fortitude to deal with CS.

When my alt downgraded from premium to basic it glitched and each month it ended up with 512m² of "peak usage".

The land holdings looked like this:
If it's the same thing, you may need a premium to help you with the support ticket. All my alt's tickets were always closed without resolution (basics can't pay tier) and I had to put in tickets under my main to get any attention.

(If you only just downgraded and owned 512m² + 512m², tier is paid for the previous month in case you missed that )

I didn't own any mainland when I downgraded.

I will avail myself of the support available for my membership level. If that fails, I will dispute the charge through my bank, and make my account NPOIF. I shouldn't have to ask someone else to speak on my behalf.I'm pefectly OK with limited service for free accounts, but now they are taking my money without justification. Even though it is only $5, by virtue of LL taking my money, I am now a Customer. I'm seen enough of LL's Mickey Mouse Lemonade Stand Business Practices. Trout, rev up the BiPlane. We may be headed for litigation.....Give me Lindens or give me death!

My Memphis Belle with multiple (working) machine gun turrets would do the trick more comprehensively, I feel. You could even operate one of the turrets yourself, for that additional "Take that, you sorry bastards" feeling.

It should not have been the Cartel land. We never had a shortfall. Anyway, the shortfall we were looking at would have been more than 512. But the group stepped up and rebuilt the reserve.


It does sound like a billing glitch. One of Trout's legal letters should clear everything up.

Hmmm, I'll keep that in mind, but it may be a bit overkill for just 5 bucks. I have a nice quiet little OH-6, that is perfect for these sorts of missions. I can sneak up on them during an office hour and let the miniguns do the talking.

Suit yourself. A vast theatre of war would be my preference, however small the issue. Maximum belligerence for dramatic effect.

I want to minimize collateral damage at this point, I'm thinking of teh chidrenz. However, I'm not afraid to escalate if need be.

Unless you contribute tier to the group land there shouldn't be any land fees associated with being in a group ...

It looks like the system thinks you own or donated a total of 1024m which minus your 512 bonus equals to the $5 tier level. Checking my old payment records, that is exactly the message I used to get.

He he. So in essence, instead of recognizing the 512 I am no longer donating, the system now thinks I'm donating twice as much. Maybe I'll just let it go, change the payment info, and see if they try to collect next month on land I don't own.

Perhaps. Just better hope that the system does not charge you for 2048m next month

It sound like a bug. Or maybe they are doing this to various accounts hoping you don't notice to make up for the shortfall since Islands are now cheaper.

This could also be a fee that they are charging you for embracing change.
