From: Dekka Raymaker Ok I don't understand this, you have a very sensible thread on child av's and point out the good points, the bad points, the moral dilemmas!
And then on possibly such a sensitive issue on 'parents' wanting to role play having a baby you decide the poster should be ridiculed?
What if they can't have babies in real life and just want to experience the process, even if it isn't 'real', does that matter, it's their choice, the world they want to create in SL and as long as it doesn't hurt other residents, why be cruel to them. QFT. Seems one rule for one..one rule for another..... Sadly OP, LL wont step in and make them give your money back. But I think word of mouth is the best advertisement, people tell friends who tell friends who tell friends..e.t.c.. I cant see your friends rushing off to their clinic anytime soon and sadly if they carry on in this way neither will others, being hit in the wallet may make them sit and take notice of their customer service skills.

From: Tiana Whitfield QFT. Seems one rule for one..one rule for another..... Well, to be honest (and I'm not choosing sides) ever since the first "baby" for purchase was made in SL the whole idea has met with pretty near universal ridicule for a variety of reasons. Yes, it is a roleplay choice. But at the same time the whole "industry" has been fraught with scams and ripoffs to the point that anybody who spent 5k without doing some homework first isn't going to get a huge amount of sympathy. There have been so many epic forum threads of prim babies and every single one turns out this way. All we are missing a long post condemning the whole idea of "throwaway babies" and respect for the sanctity of life. The tone, style and behavior of the OP doesn't help either and you can argue that people who jumped right in to mock were wrong to do so but a post such as this one will almost always engender ridicule no matter what the subject. You'd have gotten the same level of responses if the OP had bought a set of "legal" gambling equipment for 5k that turned out to be a scam. It is unfortunate but part of human nature to not think well of people who fall for scams. The tools to research before the money was spent were at everyone's fingertips.

From: Nikki Heron It appears that the OP is so upset by this and posting in every forum possible makes him feel a little better about things and that he is helpfully warning others..so not really ridiculous. If there is a scam happening in other areas such as Real estate, clothing or skins, people are usually grateful for the warning so the same should be with this warning. As said, the state of the forum at the moment is allowing for anything to be said or done so we live with it for now or dont come into the forums Wonder if you would feel the same is someone posted "Nikki is a_______" and it sat at the top of the forum thread list for a week or two for every eye to see while you were nowhere to be found to defend yourself. When scams happen in any form, it is only fair on this forum at least, not to name names. Of course, I'm talking about the forum as it used to be.

I'm sorry about my last remark. It was tasteless to suggest an abortion to a couple that was trying to have prim babies here in SL. I notice that we don't have any abortion clinics in SL though. I wonder if that would get some media attention if one opened up.

The other side often isn't represented, and when it comes out, the OP usually doesn't look quite as innocent. Always 2 sides to a conflict. It's best handled in other forums, but not here, where some people CANNOT come and defend themselves without putting payment info on file.

I love my RL kids, truly I do. But pregnancy and childbirth is one thing that I DON'T plan to simulate in my Second Life. Or morning sickness. Or, for that matter, menstruation, toe jam, snot, BO, and asparagus.
This is SL. I'm GLAD I can leave a lot of the less pleasant parts of life behind and get on with the Fun Stuff.
Having said that, I realize that those are my preferences, and others feel differently. I'm sorry for the OP's loss. Next time, ask around before making a major purchase...ANY major purchase! Find out who people are happy with, and who to avoid.
And delete the name of the culprit from your post and the subject line. You're opening yourself up to a suspension.

I wonder why on earth YOU thought I agreed naming names should be allowed, nowhere in my post did I say names should be allowed, only I sympathise with the OP wanting to vent and warn people and regardless of how many times a thread like this may come up I think its useful to know (and be reminded) that extra care should be taken when venturing down these roads.

Because the part Cristalle found rediculous was the naming of names. No worries. It was a miscommunication. Nikka is a nice, caring person.

What I find ridiculous is not the naming of names or that the OP vented, but that this thread which clearly violates the rules can be posted all over the forums (violating another rule), including SL ResMod, and not get locked in any shape or form.
That's ridiculous.

From: Oryx Tempel Mmm how about a nice lemon buerre blanc? Only if we can leave the cream out of it. For some strange reason my taste buds don't appreciate the mixing of lemons and milk/cream.

/me daydreams about a medium rare ribeye with asparagus. Instead, she's stuck eating raisins while waiting for the damned moving truck to get here.

I think part of the reason the baby scams have been going on for years is that whenever anyone complains, people make fun of them for buying babies in the first place.
Not talking about the naming names thing here; I agree that shouldn't be done.
But just think about it - what if you were a scammer, and in a business where, whenever anyone complained to others, they just got ridiculed? What could be better?
Kind of tailer-made for the scammer, I think. Which is why this continues on and on and on and on . . .

Starting a bank/investment "opportunity" where people hand you (a complete stranger) money in return for a high interest rate? Oh wait...... Lots of things get ridiculed. Goreans, furries, the asset servers, Philip, content thieves, bot runners, blingtards, bootylicious avatars, gangstas, mafias.... The list goes on and on. Nothing is sacred.
